Thanks for watching The Cringe Detective everyone. I'm finishing up the VFX Breakdown video and will be going right onto the next one.

Here's some screengrabs from the Breakdown video.

Typically I have two style of video, this one was a 'white wall' project. It's reassuring to have a format that can be filmed just with a wall and a couple lights: A Life Without Facebook, the PewdiePie video, all of the Court of Public Opinion videos. The setup is so minimal it provides a lot of flexibility for angles and acting.

And here's the illustration work from the video.

I appreciate you guys as always. Catch you all again soon

I’m always immensely impressed with the lighting in your videos-how do you pull off those harsh shadows in the final videos?? They make everything so much more intense

James Lee Animation

The UV lights have a secondary effect. Aside from boosting the glasses, they make the skin purple, but only in the shadows. So I boost the cyan/green in the glasses, while darkening the magentas

Wow, thank you so much for responding!! That’s super cool

I've always imagined really cool animated stuff in my head while listening to music on my way to work.

I am PRESSED about how you make the voice somehow deep and gravely at the same time. Please do a breakdown of this!!

Gotta admit i'm sort of disappointed that the magnifying glass mouth wasn't mostly turbulent displace but an actual magnifying glass that magnified. :/

very impressive, also wanted to ask: how in the world do you get that vocal effect for the nox character? it's insanely addicting to listen to, scratches all the right itches.

James Lee Animation

Most of the effect is the main vocal split into two tracks, One pitched down and the other lower. Then dialing in some warbliness and adding a lot of stereo :)
