Weekly Update - 5/10/23 (Patreon)

This won't be a long one, because I don't want to just write the word "FUCK!" 500 times, but you still deserve to know what's going on. So, in addition to all the other stuff with DayJob(tm), Windows Update decided to reboot my writing machine early this morning without asking me, and in doing so, killed the nearly finished chapter of Before The Storm that I was trying to polish off before I went to bed last night. (Some of the other stuff I was midwork on was saved, thankfully.)
As such, I'm just pushing BTS7 to Friday, since I have to rewrite the entire damn thing from scratch. I remember most of the general storybeats of it, but losing 5k words worth of work is enough to kick anyone in the teeth. Normally my autosaves and backups prevent this kind of thing, but for whatever reason, Word decided... you know, it's not even worth getting into it. I have to rewrite the whole thing from the ground up. I'm sorry. It's going to be late. I can only apologize and promise to write my best, especially since I love BTS as a story. I don't like missing release windows, but sometimes life just gets in the way. My flatmate actually came over from his desk to make sure I wasn't going to burn the house down, I was yelling "motherfucker!" so much...
That all said, we're hovering dangerously close to 500 subscribers, so I've got a question for you all - would you be interested in reading an unpublished novel from me that wasn't erotic fiction? I can't speak to the quality of the project anymore, since it's been, oh, probably the better part of a decade since I last glanced at the file, but it's a modern sci-fi pop spy thriller with psychic abilities that I wrote back in 2015/2016 between some other massive daunting projects. The ending probably isn't as strong as I would like it to be, but hey, it's a huge thing just sitting in my files that I could give to all 500 of you (when there are 500 of you, that is; we're still a handful short) if that's something you're interested in.
The book's got three protagonists, it's written in three different POVs, and it's called "Nothing Beats Rock." I sort of pitched it to people as "The X-Men meets The Bourne Identity with some Total Recall thrown in." If/when we hit 500, I'll throw it up as a PDF/Epub for all subscribers. I actually have a handful of unpublished novels just sitting around in a folder somewhere, so if this one's well-received, maybe I'll go back and polish off one of the other ones.
The public releases are currently as follows: 5/13 - A Pack Of His Own 1, 5/20 - Quaranteam 2:1, 5/27 - Morgana's Gift 13, 6/3 - Seven Secrets Of Mr. Magpie 3, 6/10 - Quaranteam 2:2.
Anyway, that's all from me that isn't just the word "fuck!" and again, my apologies about the delay, but sometimes the world just wants to kick us in the soft and squishy bits.
