Weekly Update - 6/5/24 (Patreon)

So much writing to do, so little time. I had a Day Job project spring up that ate up a little bit of the week, but thankfully, it was expected to just be 8-12 hours of work, and for once, the person pitching me the gig wasn't lying, and I finished it in under 10.

You can see from QT2:26 that while I did some time skips early on, we're also going to have sections that slow down and expand across several chapters. For those of you who aren't subscribers, let me just say that the datestamp in 2:26 also includes a timestamp, so expect to be on that day or the next for a bit now.

I'm also going to announce something here that I mentioned on the Discord a bit back. Sometime either this month or next month, I'll start another commissioned miniseries spinoff focusing on the staff of Team Rook. I've taken three or four swings at starting it so far, and haven't been pleased with any of them and pitched them all into the circular file. It's part of the process, though, and I find that some of the best projects have gone through a bunch of false starts, and tons of reworks. I haven't even settled in on the name yet, but people have been asking to see more of Andy's dom side for a while, so it'll dabble into that, a bit of the history of any/all of the staff members before they joined Team Rook, as well as maybe answering how Nicolette can appear and disappear at will. (A: She's probably a ninja.) I haven't even settled on a title yet, although I'm thinking Quaranteam: Staff Swerves. Part of the mandate for the title is that it has alliteration (see Piper's Prelude, McCallister's Madness, Aisling's Antics) but that title is subject to change until the first chapter is posted. I'll have it off to the commissioners sometime this month, so expect that to start next month, assuming I can get it right. Sometimes that feels much more difficult than it should be.

It's almost 100 here today, and the heat is 100% fuck you. I probably should've gone to chill out in a movie theater or something, but I was actually in a working mood when I got up, so I did that instead.
