I'm most of the way through the next chapter of Neon Stonehenge, which I'll finish up after I get up tomorrow and post for alpha level readers then. It's most of the way done now, but I'm super goddamn tired and I want to have some time to visit it under the light of day and make sure it's both lining up the way it needs to and doing all the things I want it to. But it'll be done tomorrow.

And we'll see how many things I can keep going. I didn't even take time to go see Furiosa over the weekend, so I'll have to make a point to do that before next week's news post. But I did get a delivery of my beloved Mezzo Mix (a soft drink from Germany/Austria that cola with a hint of orange juice) and that brings great joy to my heart. When I was first in Germany back over a dozen years ago, my friend who was with me told me all about this concept of spezi, which, I was told, was Coke & Orange Fanta, basically, and I thought it sounded just like my jam, and I've been a big fan ever since.

I do love finding out about things I didn't know about that are coming that look awesome, and this morning I stumbled into a trailer for a movie called Wolfs. It's from Jon Peters, who directed the Spider-Man films and he wrote it himself. It stars Clooney & Pitt, who are sort of a modern Newman & Redford, which means there's a lot of potential. The trailer looked fucking great. I told my friend it looks like Ocean's Wick, and I'm so utterly down for that as a concept. Which is great, because I'd just been telling my friend how barren the rest of this year looks for movies - Deadpool & Wolverine, Beetlejuice x2 and.... what else, exactly? I'll probably go see Bad Boys 4 (out of a sense of obligation - the third one was okay, but not exactly great... and the second one is the literal textbook definition of overblown). The Crow remake looks appalling. There's a third Venom movie coming I probably still don't care about. The Borderlands trailer looked miserable, especially as I'm not a fan of the games. I'm far too paranoid to trust a new Alien film blind, so I'll read a good number of reviews before I consider that one. I never saw the first Joker film, so I doubt I'll see the second. (My best friend's review of that was: "You've seen Taxi Driver. Why see an inferior knock off?") I'm actually really hoping that the 4th Beverly Hills Cop movie, which is dropping on Netflix next month, will be good again. I already have Netflix, so that helps.

To be fair, a lot of this is expected as a result of both the writer's strike and the actor's strike, but I'm just hoping that pain point keeps pressing on the studios and not the people who are just trying to make a living doing what they love to do.

And it looks like television's where all the good shit is these days anyway. The trailer for the third season of The Bear dropped, and it looks great. The teaser trailer for the Cross series (with the unparalleled Aldis Hodge in the lead) also just dropped, and it's already been greenlit for a second season. A third season of Reacher's coming. The Rookie got renewed for another season. Slow Horses picked up a fifth season (ahead of airing its' fourth) and thank GOD for that, because that's one of my favorite things on television right now. (They're even talking Emmy for the lead, Gary Oldman, and I'm all for it.) The second season of The Old Man (with Jeff Bridges) is scheduled for later this year. (Bridges is also going to be part of Tron: Ares, the third Tron movie, and all I can say is "Please please please PLEASE don't fuck this up, Disney...")

Anyway, here's what's coming publicly in the near future: 6/1 - QTAA 6, CARP 7, 6/8 - Captains' Days 1, QT2:17, 6/15 - QTPT16, Neon Stonehenge 3, 6/22 - MG19, Pack 8, 6/29 - Devil's Details 10, Fertile Grove 4.

Hang in there. I know I am.

The only way out is through.

When I was in Germany (1983 to 1988), I couldn't understand why one would screw up a mediocre, but tolerable soft drink, and a wonderful elixir of the gods, a good German Ale. (Although I like Pils better - Bitburger was/is my favorite.)

I was just about to open a bottle of nectar to the gods (Estrella Galicia) when I stumbled across this site: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biermischgetränk I didn't know there were that many ways to ruin a perfectly good brew... it ruined my thirst :(
