Once upon a time, there was a flax farmer named Quiet who lived by the sea before a sudden calamity by a malevolent trickster god assaulted the land. Ancient protector spirits of life rose up and sought heroes to become their mortal hosts to combat their old threats -- Quiet was chosen by the Song Siren that slumbered beneath the Seventh Sea, possessing her spellblade and becoming her new avatar, imbuing her with her magic powers and guidance.

The process also permanently transformed Quiet into a woman, because it turns out all the spirits have a bit of a silly side.
