tldr: a series about an angel girl who wants to commit sin, a demon girl who wants to purge herself of her sin, and a normal dude whose apartment they crashed into. Quirky quasi-romance, drama, and light theology ensues.

Longer version:

Up in heaven, an angel comes to question the eternal paradise she's enveloped in, realizing that what constitutes as "endless happiness" amounts to that only sanctified by the mysterious Big G upstairs. After spending her eternity merely observing humanity from the aether, she's become curious about the "sins" that bind them to their mortal plane, and soon becomes enraptured by the idea of experiencing Earthly delights and desires to know more... and gets kicked out of Heaven in the process.

Down in hell, a demon comes to question the endless perdition she's engrossed in, realizing that being an embodiment of pure sin has made her a prisoner, and no more of a prisoner than Ol' Scratch down below. Wanting a way out, she realizes that there must be a form of redemption in the lands of light above, and has since spent a forever, tooth and claw, to climb her way out of hell, willing to relinquish everything about her

Back on earth, a normal man has reached a crossroads in his life, but has become too burdened to continue on. Not only is he stuck in a dead-end job, he's just gotten out of a scarring breakup with his childhood friend/former roommate because of his inability to commit to ANYTHING. Wanting something new but too afraid of risk to explore, the least he can do is look for a new roommate to afford the apartment as he p̶r̶o̶c̶r̶a̶s̶t̶i̶n̶a̶t̶e̶s̶ plans his next move.

And then one day on the way to work, the frickin angel crashes onto him after falling from the sky.

She's okay, but he ends up with a few broken bones, and they become acquainted on the way to the hospital (though he gets out later that day). He assumes that she was summoned to him as a new guiding force to steer his life... to which Angel plays along with, because she REALLY needs to get accustomed to being no longer a heavenly deity, and they end up crashing at his place.

Meanwhile, the demon arrives on earth, but after experiencing sincere "happiness" for the first time from the strange mundanity around her, she mistakenly assumes she reached heaven instead. After a series of further misunderstandings, including accidentally stealing money and clothes, she ends up on the run and seeks help from the nearest angel... that being the Angel that had just landed on Earth and is currently now a new roommate for a random dude.

Once they end up in the same room, Demon (who I think I'll just call D from now on, that's a little more natural as a name lol) seeks salvation and refuge from Angel. I imagine the scramble of exchange being like:

  • D: Please, people are after me, they want to take me away and I don't even know what I did wrong this time, don't let them take me back to Hell!
  • Angel: Okay, calm down... wait, what?
  • D: I WORKED SO HARD TO GET OUT OF THERE PLS MISS I WANNA STAY HEREEEEEEEE ;_;
  • Guy: Uh... so are you looking to move in, or do you need me to call someone for you? Or...
  • D: Y-you! You, person! Can you help me? Here, I have loads of money, do you want this? (begins just throwing out the accidentally-stolen wads of cash from her hoodie) I hope it's enough for you!
  • Guy: whatthefuck WHERE DID YOU GET ALL THIS

And in the chaos, guy's landlord comes-a-knockin', wondering why they're causing all the noise. In the heat of the moment, Guy makes his first real decision in a long time by rolling with the punches, claiming both of the girls have decided to move in, which they too then play along with. However, he immediately realizes the gravity of the situation: he just committed to having a literal angel (who he doesn't know what she has in store for him) and demon (who he also doesn't know what she has in store for him) to live with him for an indeterminate amount of time.

Thus, status quo: Angel is being propped up as a guiding figure to the two, but has all these primal urges she wants to unleash, D still prone to getting herself in trouble but wants to be a better person, and Guy in between having to deal with his future, complicated with this very bizarre supernatural bend.

Few general foundational things I wanna establish:

  • Design-wise, Angel lost her halo but she still has wings about the size of a forearm, though since leaving heaven, they've become nonfunctional. Either she hides them in cotton/breathable clothing, or she doesn't even bother (folks just assume she's some kind of cosplayer). Meanwhile, D has horns and a succubus tail (and sharp teeth), but she covers herself in a baggy hoodie and sometimes wears a fake headband to suggest her horns are fake (again, like a cosplayer).
  • In terms of the initial instigating conflicts (Angel suppressing her horny debauchery, D in trouble with the police), I actually want those to get cleared up ASAP past the first episode and not let them linger. Angel properly reveals she wants to get her fuck on to guy, D clears up the misunderstanding, and while she's now in debt, she wants to continue feeling virtuous and takes up a job for income. The rest of the conflict should be more ambitious.
  • All of the characters need to have a balance of nature. Angel, while very indulgent, is still a virtuous person who wants to do the right thing for humanity. D, in her quest to become a "pure" girl in everyone's eyes, must deal with her own primal urges and vices. Guy is quirky, generally nice and friendly dude, but the reasons why his girlfriend left him and he's become stagnant in life are very, very big problems he must grow from.
  • The nature of heaven and hell is only alluded to vaguely. Neither Angel nor D are fully aware of the God or Devil as they still remained "underneath" both of them, and thus don't know what they actually want out of the humanity world, or what their relation to each other actually are. They can speculate on it, but no official answer should be given. Symbolically, though, Earth represents a sort of purgatory/limbo, but what that actually means relative to the main characters is left unclear and up for them to decide.
  • Just to keep the pun going, I want the home of the main characters to be on a place called Halfway St. because I think that's cute lol
