This was a tough one! Go read that fluffy romance! You deserve it!! Well, the art is fantastic, but yeah, speeding through these pages is recommended. ;) Now you are caught up. The difference is that Skull Knight breaks through the barrier, thus defying the God Hand. So, who are the God Hand? Void, Slan, Ubik and Conrad. They are named after Sci Fi books. Void is from Destination Void by Frank Herbert. Slan is from Slan by A. E van Vogt. Ubik is from Ubik by PK Dick. (My fave) and Conrad is from Call Me Conrad, from This Immortal by Roger Zelazny. I have read all of these including, Thus Spoke Zarathustra, MacBeth, and a bunch of other books and references that have been made in Berserk. Really, some good stories. I even read a Midsummer Night's Dream for this. I'd say the hardest book to get through was Zarathustra. I really need to re-read it. There is some imagery in that book that Miura rips right out of the pages and puts into Berserk. Yes, the Lost Chapter #83. It raises some interesting ideas, namely the Idea Of Evil. This is referring to the Idea of Forms from Plato. You can google that on your own. Berserk has a lot of philosophy embedded in its pages. In this case Greek philosophy. This Idea will be expanded on later. It is never contradicted or retconned. It just is not visited so blatantly again. Hopefully it will be and your thought of how you destroy a god is answered. Like I said before, I use a little "g" because I'm not sure if there is only this god or others. I'm shooting for others. I also like how it lays out why it came into being, because humans willed it into existence to explain the world. Unfortunately, the world they live in is a shit one. So, the Idea of Evil instead of the Idea of Good? Yes, Berserk is more brutal than GOT. I laughed at the Red Wedding. I was like, meh, I've seen worse. Tis a flesh wound! Ok, more misc. info, the apostle that eats Gut's arm is named Borkof. It is like a frog dog. I think that Griffith does what he does to both Casca and Guts is just shear spite! He is never breaking eye contact with Guts during the whole ordeal. He treats Casca like shit and tosses her aside like a used tissue. Absolutely vial! Griffith just did it to hurt both of them. He had those feelings in his heart for a while since his rescue when he tried to choke Guts. Now, does he feel anything since he is a God Hand now? He isn't supposed to and he probably doesn't, if he had any, he used them up during the rape. I just can't believe that people say Griffith did nothing wrong. I think those people are screwed in the head.
