Mini-update (Patreon)
Content
Before this update, audio was disabled by default, and had to be separately enabled via the settings menu, which many players never found their way to. To fix this, a member of the community had the clever suggestion to add a mute button to the game's UI. That has been done.
Now, audio is enabled by default, which means the audio subsystem will be initiated and audio files will be loaded. It starts out muted, though, so just like before, no audio will play unless the player specifically enables it. The difference is that now, the button to enable it is on the game's UI, instead of hidden in the settings.
Basically, the mute button is now the preferred way to enable or disable audio, and if you want to make it so you have to load less things over the network, you can still disable the subsystem altogether. The mute button remembers its state across settings, so you don't have to enable or disable audio every time you open the game.
Unless you had previously explicitely disabled audio, it will be enabled when you next load the game. If you play on a metered connection, I suggest you immediately disable it via the settings, as it will take up precious extra megabytes.
That's all for now. Enjoy the mute button! I hope people will now stop being surprised when I mention the game has audio. See you all later!
