I’m not sure what I love more about this callback, Julia not caring about not!Danny and things coming full-circle, or not!Danny’s establishing character trait being ‘hating math,’ something Actual Danny seems to be pretty adept at to have successfully tutored Sal in, so that we can hammer home this Roomies Anti-Parallel.

I know it would be kinda meta (fictional character writing fictional comic strip kidding actual author’s actual first fictional comic strip) but it might actually work on a semi-occasional schedule. I kind of miss the sci-fi wackiness of the earlier versions.

We should get a Captain Julia Gray strip where Julia talks over her friends watching a movie together and then says they're jealous of how pure she is, and then the next panel is Julia stuffed into a trash can.

It's been a (very long) while since I read Roomies and It's Walky, this feels like a specific callback, does anyone have an explanatory link maybe?

I remember being all "yo what if we got a whole comic about Dexter & Monkey Master???" back in the day, and I'm kinda thinking that a Head Alien who isn't aggressively, maliciously cruel when given the slightest opportunity isn't my Head Alien*, and it's hard to do that kind of character as the protagonist. Head Alien needs someone who can laugh at him and also want to stab him in the face really hard. *I think Walky has said this exact thing at some point.

Joyce’s introductory strip in Roomies (in which she immediately proceeds to latch onto Danny as a love interest despite his complete disinterest) was her sitting next to him in math class and noting she loves math, while carrying a Very Large Calculator.
