Technical rant warning:

Imagine you're trying to write a story and every time you type, there's a 0.5-2 second delay. You're trying to think of the next word, but then you can finally notice that you made a typo 5 words back. You fix it and think, what was I going to type again?

That's been my last 2 days. The editor I use to write my game has become annoyingly slow because the game has become so large. So, I spent these last two days looking for an alternative editor. There is program called twee2, but on windows it's a bitch to install. And, worse, it can't take my current game and convert it to twee2 format. Well, it can, but not on windows! That means if I wanted to use it, I'd have to find some way to take 150k+ words and convert them, by hand, to twee2 format. Not gonna do that.

So, I spent hours trying to install a virtual machine that runs linux but for one reason or another, it never worked right. e.g., with Ubuntu, the screen would freeze when I restarted.

In the middle of this, this new virus scanner I installed decided to be a dick and deleted my development environment so I had to reinstall that.

I don't know how I found it, but eventually I ran into this program called tweego that does exactly what I'm looking for and works fine on windows.

With that out of the way, I can now write my story in almost any editor I want. I can also get cool features like a decent search, find & replace, and spell checking. You know... stuff you'd want to use if you were writing a huge story like I am?

BTW, the editor I plan to use is vim. I'm pretty ok with it already, but I think I'll be a lot better, soon. I'll have to be if I'm typing this much with it.

Hope your last two days were better than mine! Have a great weekend! (Bukakke)
