This film, this film, this film… I built up a hate for that Fabio kid at lightning speed, even faster than I fell for Leo, Gi, and Gab. I fell pretty quickly for Belle and Sebastian too, on its own it beautifully represents all the fresh air that Gabriel breathes into Leonardo’s life. When Gab explains the eclipse to Leo using the stones, that just did it for me… then Leo gets in the wind in his face while Gabriel bikes him home? Magic, no wonder Leo starts to fall for him. Then there’s that perfectly choreographed party, all the characters intertwining to create sweet and/or hilarious moments, Fabio’s pathetic trick, Giovanna’s alcohol-augmented misunderstandings and then rescue of Leo, Leo’s misunderstandings, and that bolt-out-of-the-blue kiss? All in all the chaotic feelings that teenage parties represent are swirled into an amazing sequence! Anyway, so much is so brilliantly handled in this film, from Giovanna’s growing jealousy, Leo’s parents coping with his approaching adulthood, all of the coming of age moments, the discovery of self, just great. And the acting? Flawless, and I was shocked to learn that Guilherme Lobo who plays Leo is sighted, he had me absolutely convinced he’s actually blind, he’s simply perfect, and he’s done more movie and tv work in Brazil. Ghil dances ballet, BTW. Anyway, Fabio Audi, who plays Gabriel is out, had a famous boyfriend for a while after this film, and is making his way as a photographer in Sao Paolo.

I really thought that he was actually blind too! This was such a beautiful film. I'm happy I got to watch it. 🥰
