So how I view his hesitancy towards his dad's relationship is that Yai feels betrayed and left behind as well as his attachment to his mom. Cause think about it. His dad (according to him) only talks about money or business, his sister is busy working. He's home alone thinking his dad is too busy working in another country but turns out he's wooing some lady. I'd be pissed too. If Mangkorn goes to NY, he'll be "abandoned " again 😢 Yai is typical naughty kid acting out cause he's looking for attention and connection not to say that's a bad thing, I love his character.
