There is an old-school style of movie direction, like cinema noire genre in which everything as a meaning with code and symbolism in every props. I cannot really gather my thoughts properly yet, it's like I need to finish the series to have a truthful opinion. I am only certain that the three characters are fleeing something and took refuge in what became a prison in their life (job for the mother who do only remake of the same story, imprison with herself; dreams for the son looking for the dead figure of his father from north to south; monastery like house for the friend which isolate him without contact to the exterior, absence of communication). The bridge under construction is of course an essential scenaristic point to connect them with the missing part in everyone...
