On modern music, I listen to loads of niche stuff, and there is still good music out there, but for me there's not many iconic tunes being made anymore. 1 'pop' tune that does have an iconic sound to me is perfect girl by mareux. I listen to a lot of dark wave stuff; lots of synthwave and perfect girl has it's own sound. However... It still sounds way too perfect to me, no pun intended. A song I love from the early illegal rave scene is take me away by True Faith. See this song to me is what perfect girl lacks. It sounds airy, it doesn't sound perfect, and it almost resmebles the echoes of a rave hall, or a garage, the reverb is done beautifully. Most tunes nowadays are way over produced and it really takes away the magic. I love late 80s acid house because of that imperfect sound, frankie knuckles and all that. Even 90s drum and bass is magical music. All the new dance stuff is garbage in my opinion. Russian music has charm, even the modern stuff, its very well produced and very unique. But mostly nowadays the music is just a poor reflection of prior decades, done with better production. Which, Imo, takes the magic away from the music of the past.
