Dharma means 'way of life' more so in like a religious sense, not your own personal purpose. The Indian religions are actually called Dharmic Religions in India. What you are describing is called Jati/Varna (the british dubbed it as the caste system). It had its purpose in ancient India, and was originally ment in the way you describe, but over time it turned into something evil and held people down in their ancestrial professions for hundreds if not thousands of years. but its hard to simply explain short and sweet on a patreon comment. The Bhagvad Gita is a good book to read if you are interested in this philosphy. It is a hindu scripture about a king who dosent want to go to war, but Krishna (a hindu god) explains to him that he has to, as it is his role in life, being born as a king(or born into the khyshatriya/warrior varna) to do so.

Amir Khan comes from a khyshatriya (warrior Varna) background btw, being born into a Rajput family. Just goes to show how hereditary Jati/Varna is even for someone who's ancestors left the Dharmic fold long ago.
