I know how this will sound .like fanboyism. But, after watching AJs reaction after the Loss. I found it very interesting. I saw relief in his demeanour and a weird sense of achievement for going 12 rounds at that pace. I get the feeling that AJ proved something to himself in that fight. In the last 30 seconds of the fight, he was knackered and begun taking punishment, yet he had this weird smirk and bravado on his face. Then when the bell rang, he had this sense of relief on his face that it was over, but some weird air of comfort when Uysk came over to him and his first words were, "I know how to beat you now". Then his facial expressions when they read out the scorecards. It's like he knew he lost but seemed fairly pleased with his performance and ended up smiling. I 100% agree that AJ has mental demons, and I think it was even WORSE than we all thought going into the fight. I think a big part of the demons was confidence in his cardio. What AJ fails to understand is that his cardio isn't his biggest problem; it's his lack of ability to control the pace of a fight and control a fighter. If you check compubox, he actually averages more punches per round than Fury in the last few fights, who is known to have great Stamina. In some rounds, AJ threw more punches than Uysk; a few rounds he threw 20 or so more punches than Uysk.... but when did you ever feel like he had uysk under control. Not once! He is missing the "veteran" moves and" technical proficiency" that emits confidence to the VIEWER, and drains the spirit from the opponent. The type of tricks an old school trainer could teach him. Personality-wise, I think Buddy Mcgirt would be the best fit.
