Disclaimer. I am a delusional Tyson fanboy. I’ve been saying this for years mike Tyson never fulfilled his full potential. He was better physically, mentally and psychologically before he ever won w belt. I font think he could have improved from a physical standpoint. I think there could have been slight improvements from the other 2 aspects so that by the time he was in his late 20s he would have reached his full capacity. I use a saying with my kids “don’t let something you’re good at stunt your growth” which is essentially what happened with Tyson. Because he was so gifted he could come out and leave certain things in the locker yet still win quite easily. These things then became habits bad habits and it was a downward spiral. It’s essentially laziness in his part but I believe it came from not having an authority figure. His mentality is clear to see and this in addition to his fighting/training style doesn’t gel. Everything was done at full pace and to perfection. A hard way to fight and train. As opposed to other fighters that benefit from slower paced drills and more relaxed fighting styles. Tyson past 30 would have been on the slide since that duke doesn’t age well bit late 20s would have been something special. Something I don’t think we’ve seen the likes of. I mean I’ve seen him pull some amazing moves of repeatedly in fights(from a high tech standpoint). You don’t do that by accident. But if you don’t need to and that’s not ur mentality then you won’t. I got high grades in my GCSE’s. One paper I put my all into the other I winged it. I got too marks for both. I thought wtf am I busting my ass for to get the same grade. If I had to do this for years I’d have ended up getting Lower and lower grades. Similar to rappers that used to be super complex. Then put out some bullshit and see that it sells do just keep with the bullshit. After a while the money becomes more important to them than the music so who cares🤦🏽‍♂️ Not everyone is made to be at the top.
