Interesting what you say about the teachers and the pupils, plus the clear definition of what a nonce/paedo is. One of the IT teachers at our school would never have gone after a child of 11-13 but absolutely loved his 14-16 year olds and ‘famously’ left one a ‘love note’ to read when she got to her usual spot at the start of the lesson. Was highly inappropriate, used to pay them compliments based on appearance etc – our school was an ex-grammar so as far as I’m aware none of them ever reciproacted. The ‘14 year old girl goes out with 23 year old grown man’ thing was common though – funnily enough when I was 23 I don’t remember salivating over people who were still legally children. Never understood it from the bloke’s point of view, does it not feel morally wrong? Then there was the science teacher who nobody liked, was always a very strange dude with a lot of feminine traits (as well as being a bit of a shit) and we just assumed he batted for the other side. But he used to go on ‘charity trips’ at Christmas to ‘help’ foreign orphans (usually with the school having forced us to chip in) and when you talk about people putting themselves in the ‘position of maximum opportunity’ you’re dead right. I started having suspicions about him years later when I’d learned a bit about how the world works, looked him up and he’d very suddenly relocated to India. We’ll probably never know.
