You thought we're done with the Karlach Making Of posts? In this one I'll try to explain with photos how I made my new Karlach wig!

Note: I used my first Karlach wig as a base, didn't start ike completely from scratch. The base wig I used was this one from Amazon. I'll recommend looking for a more high quality one though, this one had the wefts terribly far apart from each other. But nothing we cannot solve :D

So, first off: I had to start by sewing in additional wefts in the area where the undercut will be, otherwise it wouldn't be covering enough. The wefts I bought were a little more on the "natural black" side, so compared to the black of the base wig they almost appeared as brown. But I found that it didn't matter as much :D It adds dimension in my opinion!

After being done with all the extra wefts, I seperated the undercut area and cut the single strands off step by step. Make sure to keep them for later though! After that, I borrowed my partner's electric razor and shaved the part to a somewhat even length.

The red wefts I ordered were a little too bright, so I tried to dye them but the difference is very minimal :D The wefts that go to the top of the head are gonna be a bit spiky and supposed to add volume, so I crimped them with a crimping iron. That like triples the volume :D Then I sew them in as wel and cut them afterwards.

In order to have the red wefts blend in better, I painted the top with black acrylic colors :) Adding the red wefts was a very intuitive process. Have it peek out everywhere but not overpower the black areas.

Next step was to mostly finish all the cutting so that the length is where it neeeds to be. It needed to be really layered.

Let's get back to the wefts we kept from later when we cut the sidecut area! I use all-purpose glue on baking paper and keep working with them once dried. I did this for the first time so no guarantee that my way is the best way xD The purpose of these is to create the voluminous parting from sidecut to longer hair! I made that by glueing them into the wrong direction first, underneath the existing parting, then put some wadding material from my local fabric store in between and glued glued and hairsprayed the parting over it. The combination of hairspray and blowdryer is so strong!

Last but not least the only thing left to do is to fix some details and make the tips a bit "pointy" again with hairspray and hairdryer ;D And that's it!
