(WIP) [ANIMATION] FOS_Redo "Rough BASE Animation, end my suffering please" (Patreon)

Ohhh dear Jesus, this fucking sucked. This was like, "Cut my life into pieces" bad. I know I don't post rough pencils like this anymore, but it's been awhile since I've posted and I'd like you all to know that I am still breathing. This week has been, as the Europeans might say, "A bit shit." My AC went out, and since I live in a desert hellhole it got up to 83 degrees Fahrenheit, or 28.3 degrees Celsius, inside where I work. I've got a poor little portable AC, but even that small hero couldn't do much against God himself trying to kill me. 

"But KYDE," you say, slamming me against a wall and dragging a knife across your own face, just to show me that you're a mentally sick in the head character with nothing to lose, "this animation doesn't seem too bad. I mean, she's mostly stationary, she only moves in the very middle. How is that bad?" Well, I thought so too, hypothetical asker of question. But it turned out to take me an hour to do each frame in that moving period. For a total of 13 hours just for that section. In the fucking heat. Just hours and hours, drawing nearly the same picture over and over. And while I was working on this, I was also listening to a 3-hour long Daggerfall review. Like, this I think is a contender for a punishment in Hell, I dunno you guys, this section has fundamentally changed me. And I'm still probably never going to play Daggerfall, Jesus Christ that game is old as fuck.

Anyways, let's take a look at the comparison.

Uh, you guys will have to forgive the fact that these are probably not synced. You know, I actually stitched the gifs together, but something told me "Man, it's really wide, I think it might be too big." Then I said to myself, "Why would it be too big? It's just wide, that makes no sense." But then, yeah. It's too big. It's like 60 mb, I have no idea why. Whatever. Just... imagine they're synced.

I dunno, I don't think I have to like, try and explain. To me, it just looks so much better. Maybe you guys will disagree. I dunno, maybe the skirt falls better in the first go at it? I just... I just hate the first one even more. I'm actually happy with this new one now. That's a fun fact about me, sometimes I actually like my work. To date, the thing I feel like I've animated the best has been Eri's shoe in the Metal Slug Crab gif. It looks like a 3D model, I'm really proud of it. Though, maybe my new favorite is Frankie's hands here. Another artist recently asked me why I avoid drawing hands and feet in my work, they thought it was a stylistic choice. Nah, it's laziness and fear. Hands are fucking hard. So, since I was shamed, I tried really hard this time around. And man, I'm really happy with them. Her head is also rotating pretty nicely. See? Sometimes I can be nice to myself. I hope this is the Chef's-Kiss-Mama-Mia some of you hoped it would be.

Another thing I tried was having her head move back and forth with the cookie, but it looked so weird. I shat on myself before about the sliding eyes, but this looked the best to me. 

Uh, well, I don't have anything else to say. I can't think of anything funny or witty. I think the heat fizzled out my brain. All that's left in my mind are talking points about why Daggerfall is still playable in 2023. I'll link to the video, right here. I actually really like his videos, I watched all his recommended mod videos for Daggerfall. Even though I won't play it. I'm currently listening to his review of Arena. Which is longer. I dunno you guys, I think I'm damaged. 

Anyways, next up is... something. I don't know. I guess the Variant Element update? I still have to line this, and do her face. But I won't update for that. It'll just be like this. Uh, stay tuned...?
