Preemptive Advice: Read the entire recipe first, before you begin, to avoid added difficulty.

Ingredients:

  • 2 1⁄2 cups – All-purpose flour
  • 2 tsp – baking powder
  • 1⁄2 tsp – baking soda
  • 1⁄2 tsp – salt
  • 1⁄4 cup + 1 tbsp – granulated sugar
  • 1⁄4 cup – packed brown sugar
  • 1⁄2 cup – cold butter
  • 1⁄2 cup – apple diced (the sweeter/tastier the apple, the better)
  • 1⁄2 cup – pear diced (we use a Bosc pear)
  • 2⁄3 cup – buttermilk

Directions:

1. Preheat oven to 375 ° F

2. In a bolw, stir flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, 1⁄4 cup granulated sugar, and brown sugar

3. With a pastry knife, cut in butter until coarse crumbs form (A fork works almost as well)

4. Stir in fruit

5. Stir in buttermilk until doagh just holds together

6. Transfer dough to ungreased cookie sheet

7. Shape into 9-inch round

8. With a flour-covered knife, cut round into 8 wedge; sprinkle wiht remaining sugar

9. Separate wedges, alloing 1⁄2 inch in between each, on the cookie sheet

10. Bake 22 to 28 minutes, or until golden brown

11. Serve warm
