Do cities always move to the east? And when they reach water do they start going back? And for how long has humanity been doind this system? Are there hundreds of ruined cities to the left?

Great question! They mainly go in a big circle around the mountain range that you can see, with some offshoots. (Vast oversimplification, but that's the short answer.) 😁. Length of time: a few thousand years, give or take

Nice! Uh.. can two cities co-exist with the same name or does a new city only take over a name after the previous one has been abandoned? Should the northern Alefast be a ruin?

The northern Alefast is the newest city. Alefast(Waning) is the one that Tala went to and the one that is basically being abandoned and the current time frame.

It's a bit weird that they would reuse the name while the original city is still active. I imagine that would lead to some confusion.
