Hey everyone,

I hope you had a great week :)

My week was still pretty intense because of the Vaccine side effects. But now I fell fine again.

So what else happened this week:

  • Shop Update:
We made a very important security update of the Shop to the latest shop-platform version. Took a bit longer than expected because we had to adapt the code for all the games as well. That's why I wrote in the last post please re-download if you have not already.
  • Computer Issues:
Then my computer and I almost melted. It started crashing randomly and it turned out, that it was simply to hot. I installed more fans and also got a small, portable Air-Condition and that solved the problem. It was simply too hot in my office in general anyway... However, because of the constant random crashes I had to set my PC up again from scratch. Install Windows, install all the programs I need etc... Which also took almost a day.
  • Unreal Engine:
After the initial excitement I realised that some stuff is not working that well in Unreal. For example the Water system we currently have has quite a lot of flaws and I really hope we can use Unreal's solution once it´s out of "experimental" stage. Right now we only have a nice looking solution, but without interaction. I definitely want to have a boat at some point ;)

I am currently going through Landscape Materials and trying to understand the general concept of what is affecting the performance in Unreal and how to optimize it. I am still blown away from the general performance :)

Currently I am working on a tiny island and want to cover all the basics. Procedural Vegetation, Water, Landscape Material, Collision, etc. Once I have that, I would also like to give a build to you to test the performance. Probably next week or in 2 weeks. This is NOT the final Island, it´s simply a Test for all kinds of features.

Here is a short run of the Standard Unreal Character: YOUTUBE VIDEO

It will take time to get the hang of everything, but it will also pay off in the long run.

Alright, that´s it for this weeks update!

Enjoy your weekend and stay safe!

Best,
PM & Team

I'm looking forward to seeing the girls in unreal engine! finally the comments of the type "the graphics were better before" are over

puppetmaster

Yes, I plan to add them also soon. There is a lot of work left for the setup of the shaders and stuff. But we will get there. So far everything is very very promising :)

Hiro

Wow, that looks so realistic, very happy with this move to Unreal when you see the big difference with Unity

puppetmaster

Thanks! And things will look even better. That's a good first test, but there is still a lot of improvement possible.

I'm glad that you decided to change the engine from Unity to Unreal. Those testshots and the video look amazing. I bought EP6 yesterday and must admit... the not so favorable comments over on affect3d.com are quite accurate. Especially for someone like me who just wants to enjoy a video and doesn't have a PC to run your interactive version. Don't get me wrong I still like the girls (and the introduced Marcia is fitting very well) but considering the decrease in quality from EP4 to EP6 is "astounding" to say the least. So is there any chance after you got used to the Unreal engine to revisit EP6 with an "upgrade"? Or do you plan to leave your work "as is"?

puppetmaster

I just replied to that on A3D. I once made a long post on why I changed to real-time rendering and that is still valid. Yes, EP5/6 look different than the previous episodes and not everyone likes it. But since there are trailers and people know what they will get, there is no surprise for them. Also there is quite a lot of additional content so people don´t just get a movie. We will not touch old projects any more but rather focus on new content. The Unreal Engine is very promising. You can read my old post about switching to real-time rendering here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/episode-5-why-i-38668216

Thank you for your reply and providing the post explaining your decision. I get why you chose to change they way to produce your content. I agree with you that the trailers and descriptions out there provide a clear picture what to expect. Therefor I didn't have the slightest feeling of deception and I knew what I was buying and that it looked different than the previous episodes (including Episode 5). As far as additional content goes I get it. The earlier episodes were movies only, then there was the interactive part with a mobile and then a PC version separately, or vice versa. EP5 provided a movie with four different settings. With EP6 I got a movie in 4 different settings plus the pc/movie maker and the mobile version. That out of these 6 parts the 4 movies are the only parts I can/will enjoy is on my behalf (I wouldn't say "problem"). It's just that I generally don't enjoy interactive versions or PC games (let alone run them smoothly) like I do with prerendered movies. Like you stated in your post about "sacrificing" quality over efficiency and flexibility I'm preferring quality over interactivity. Regarding my question to "upgrade": I get that there are different kind of creators out there. Some, like you, say: "once it's done, it's done" and move on to new projects. Others keep on coming back to their original creations after learning new/improved ways and have a look at how to improve things. .. So since I have my clearity now, I realise that the kind of content you want to create in the future (or have begun in doing so) isn't what I enjoy the most. So that's fine. Thank you again and I wish you all the best. Take care

You are welcome :) That "going back and improving" approach is actually what we want to do with the next projects. First the Patreon-Exclusive Pose viewer and then of course the next game.

Just wanted to input that I didn't really like the downgrade in quality from real time rendering either. I preferred the quality of the first few episodes. But I do like the replayability with the new episodes with the different customization options. So hopefully with unreal engine maybe we will get better looking real time rendering. So it will be a nice middle in between the two differences.I still think Puppetmaster's futas are some of the most classy futas out there so I am a fan for life. With the new episodes I think it will be cool if we could walk around and look at the island.More pretty visuals to look at along with the beautiful futas.

puppetmaster

Thanks for the input, very much appreciated! We definitely want to improve the quality a lot over time. Especially the cum-shots. Unity is simply very limited, but we didn't know about new (!) limitations when we were almost done with EP6. So it would not have made sense to not finish it. But we definitely want better graphics with better performance. And so far, Unreal is amazing! And I think that using a real-time approach will sooner or later replace pre-rendered anyway. If you look at first footage from UE5, it´s mind blowing! And Unreal also has a lot of settings to tweak the performance also for lower end systems. But yeah, there is room for improvement and we are working on it :)
