Happy new year!

Previously we'd mentioned we were aiming for an initial Jan 1 early alpha public release date. We acknowledge that time has now passed by due to slowdown from holidays and a delay in some important artwork for Tutorial Island NPCs, as well as the first companion character, has not yet been completed.

At this stage, the opening storyline of the game is more or less complete, nicknamed the Tutorial Island region. Upon complementing the three quests on it, you are able to leave for the mainland to a low-level region known as North Shore. From feedback provided by a tester recently, there is currently about 2-5 hours of gameplay available, depending on how quickly and thoroughly the player reads.

We have a few more important things to do on the to-do list, but starting in mid January, we will start issuing out Steam beta keys to anyone who requests one.  Beta keys will be limited, and at some point in the future when the game is more mature, these beta keys will be banned, as per Steam's recommendation. (Active testers will be re-issued full product keys in the future, similar to what we did for Exile 2023.)

Return to Aphrodisia will continue to be in a rapid-development, early alpha 0.0.1 release version for some time with no support yet for save games to work between updates, so if you are attached to a save file, you will want to disable automatic updates.

The game is not quite in a state where it is representative of the core gameplay loop, which is we we're still considering in a pre-alpha stage and will not be putting it up on the Steam store, or listing this game on TF Games Site, etc. There are still some major gameplay features that have not yet been added in, such as an affliction system with transformations that progress over time. Quests and artwork also remain limited at this time, and some battle mechanics have not yet been completed, such as magic deflection and lust rebuffing.

Despite this, we are definitely interested in hearing back about is typos, bug reports, or general feedback on what you all want to see, what is confusing or non-obvious to first-time players, and more.
