It’s episodes like these that make me laugh while watching you react to it because this is only season two episode 11 and the way that I feel your frustration over what happened in this episode is literally just the beginning of the frustration that you will feel

I’m with you with the frustration of like “why is this kid just so freely walking even after admitting everything he fantasizes about”. The reality though is that he hadn’t committed a crime so legally the only person who could do anything about it was his mother. Everyone knew the best thing would be for him to be institutionalized which is why Gideon told his mother but she refused. I honestly understood why the team couldn’t do much more, my annoyance was more towards the mother. She refused to take their advice and institutionalize him initially after evaluating him and said she could handle him herself, but then proceeds to leave him alone all the time free to do whatever. She doesn’t change her mind about sending him to hospital/institution until after he goes missing and has too be held as a suspect because no one could testify he had been at the church that whole time. Then even after she decides to send him away she STILL lets him go out on his own which allowed him to go and hire the prostitute and try to unalive himself. It’s like the mother had no regard for anyone’s safety (including her son’s) because she’s in denial about how serious his issues are just because he’s seeking help instead of hiding it
