I like the insight into River and Simon's family and past, and the intrigue about Shepherd Book ("What kind of ident card gets you that kind of reception with the Alliance?" Hmmmm... curious, indeed!). I also like the small detail of the family dinner at the end. Simon holds out a chair for Kaylee (maybe his way of apologizing for being a dick earlier in the episode, lol), and River steals a roll off of Jayne's plate and he's all "Hey!" before grabbing himself a new one. It's a silly detail, those little things, but I really like it. Brings more of that Serenity family vibe, and how the crew is becoming closer. :)
