This episode gives me chills every time. As a gay person, I always struggle with the AIDS storylines knowing what the people before me went through. I think they did beautifully on this one.

I love this episode. Sarah Paulson gets that icy stare Ellis vibe down hard. I also love J. August Richards. I found this storyline deeply moving (they are good doctors) and very character illuminating (they are still cheaters and flawed human beings). This patient story always get me welling up even on rewatches. On a lighter side. The one small thing that bugs me about this episode is lazy retcon of Alex/Callie hookup. Is it in character for both? Sure! Would season 2 Alex rub it in George's face every day always? Also sure... He was still Evil Spawn in those days. So the 'cone of silence' excuse was very lame. We did not need to add more strings to that tangled-up hook-up map thank you very much.

Fun fact: Before this ep released, when fans heard that a young Ellis and a young Richard has been cast for some flashback ep, there was a theory floating that Jackson was probably their love child and that’s what the ep would be about!
