Kourtney is easily my favorite singer on the show and "Jump" is the epitome of why! Like, I always enjoyed Nini as a singer, but she definitely had more of a singer-songwriter vibe to me. Kourtney is a sanger!!! Love how supportive EJ is of Ricky in this episode, especially considering all the not-so-subtle jabs Ricky gave EJ in season 3. This shows EJ's growth in a tangible way even though we haven't seen him since the s3 finale. In s3, EJ was so wrapped up in his own stuff that it was nice to see him be so supportive here. I hate the Seb/Carlos/Big Red drama so much 🤬I have a lot of other thoughts, but I'll save those for later 😉

2023-08-31 02:20:15 I loved this ep so much. It made me so emotional, from the ricky/ej stuff, to the kourt stuff, to the rina ending. THE RAIN KISS WITH THE SECOND CHANCE INSTRUMENTAL! SO GOOD. the big red/carlos/seb stuff i kinda feel was an unnecessary plot (though i do love mess so i am not super bothered by it but i know others are). this ep being centered around college just makes me want a college spinoff even more

Such a great episode! This season is something special. Ricky and EJ's song Speak Out was written by Josh, he wrote it about his personal struggles and overcoming them. Which makes the song even more special. And I just loved Ricky and EJ's scenes together. It's SO rare to see two guys on screen opening up to each other about their issues and saying they love each other platonically. I think their scenes in this episode are really important. And I love that EJ realized that he acted in a shitty way towards Gina at summer camp and that he's sorry for it, I'm glad to hear him say that because I was MAD at him after season 3 lol. He's redeemed himself. Kourtney's song really is STUNNING!! It's not an original song, it was originally sung by Cynthia Erivo. But I actually prefer Dara's version. Her voice is UNBELIEVABLE!! It's my favourite song of the season at this point too, but there's a song coming that overtakes it. I'll be interested to see if you feel the same. Oh and the name of the choir that Kourtney sang with, The Lewis Royalettes, were named after a band called The Royalettes that Dara's mum was in when she was younger. I loved that detail. Ricky and Gina's rain kiss is one of my favourite moments of this whole show for sure!! It was beautifully shot and SO adorable. Ricky jumped and he made the right choice. I loved it!! Also the song playing over their kiss was Second Chance, that song was in the last episode of season 2. And everyone thought it symbolized the start of EJ and Gina and the end of Ricky and Nini, but what it actually symbolized all along was the start of Ricky and Gina. And Ricky was holding the same chocolates that were left outside Gina's door in the season 2 Valentine's Day episode, basically making it canon that he did get those for her. And the showrunner shared an original script page from the season 1 homecoming episode where Gina kissed Ricky's cheek in the car and they were actually going to have a rain kiss then but they held off. And so this one moment of Ricky and Gina kissing in the rain was a throwback to SO many of their moments together. Rina have been planned since the start and that's just some damn good writing!! 😍 Now, Big Red and Seb. That's the only thing I don't like about this season. They made the two bi characters cheat, which is one of the worst and most damaging stereotypes about bi people. And what makes it even worse is that the actors are both bi in real life as well. As a bi person myself I found that whole storyline really hurtful and unnecessary. I hate it. But overall, another fantastic episode. I'm SO excited for more. Also, in case you're recording it soon because of your trip away, the series finale has two scenes in the credits. One at the start of the credits and one at the end of the credits. You don't want to miss those so make sure that you don't. 😊
