Léonard Amizet

Here we go ! This one and the next are two of the best episodes of the serie <3

SeeJay

While the next two specials are amazing, this one is definitely my favorite. Seeing the Time Lord Victorious gave me chills. Lindsay Duncan (Adelaide Brooks) is such an amazing actress, it was a treat to see her in this episode.

Dan Dolan

The Doctor should never travel alone. That's why he was acting OOC, he's been on his own too long. Like Donna said: He needs someone to stop him.

Grace

i loveee this one, it's so easy to see the doctor as this funny lighthearted guy but it's in episodes like this that make you remember that he's actually a bitter, arrogant old man who's lived nearly a thousand years and committed genocide running from his death and hurting the people around him. i think david tennant plays both those sides of the doctor really convincingly. getting ready for a big finale!!!!

And we see the negative consequences of the Doctor traveling without a companion. Without anyone to keep him in check, he becomes too big for his britches! He sees himself as a god and people as his playthings to do with as he pleases. I gotta say though, what strength for Adelaide to kill herself to keep time in a relatively straight line! It's sad that she still had to die, though. Also, you've seen Mia (the 27-year-old; played by Gemma Chan) before in Captain Marvel as one of the Kree operatives on Carol's team (you wouldn't recognize her since she's blue in that movie; she didn't get along with "Vers").

Daryl

When I question whether I'm maybe too hard on other sections of the show, that perhaps don't feel they live up to the potential that had been well established for a solid number of years. I only have to rewatch this absolute banger of an episode for the umpteenth time, and realise you know when something is unquestionably great!

Siobhan Linehan

I could only watch the very start and very end of this episode, I find it so stressful and scary. This is one of only a couple of episodes that I just can't watch. My anxiety doesn't like it lol. But despite it being very low on my list, I understand why so many fans of the show have it as a favourite. Seeing The Doctor in this way is interesting. It's like sometimes he forgets that the rules that he has for time travel are there for a reason. That's why he needs a companion that he trusts to tell him when he's going too far or doing something wrong. But by this point he's been on his own for almost a year. Thinking for every minute about how he's lost Rose, Martha, Donna, Jack, Mickey, Sarah Jane etc etc. Going over and over in his head about how all the bad things that happened to them are his fault and he thought why should it be this way? Why should I play by the rules? Screw the universe, I'm going to save everyone. But it's like Adelaide said, no one should have that power. The universe will always correct itself. The Doctor doesn't have Donna anymore to shout at him or Rose/Martha to appeal to his good side, so Adelaide did that job. By ending her life she shocked The Doctor and woke him up. She showed him that he'd lost himself and gone too far. I love the way that when we first met The Doctor in modern Doctor Who he was grumpy and closed off and broken because he'd just lost his entire planet. But Rose made him better so when he regenerated he became more funny and kind and lighthearted. But now he's lost everyone again we see him going back to the dark and closed off Doctor we first met before he changes again. It's very clever. I look forward to the two part final special next. It's EPIC!! And then onto season 5, my favourite season. Exciting. 😊

I really hope you do the next two as one big episode 😭

This is why I believe the Doctor always needs Companions with him when he travels.. they huminize him make him see his wrong doings! Captiain brooke was not truly a companion for the long run but she still made him see his wrong doings when she took her own life to keep the time line the same as it was supposed to be! Donna did the same for the doctor albeit in different ways when they first met when he was drowning the spider race and she told him to "stop now!" or to use the doctors example in this episode of Pompeii he saved that one merchant family from distruction all because of Donna yes he caused Pompeii to occur but he still gave one family a chance.. i believe if donna wasn't there in that moment he would have turn around and run the moment he realized what time period he was in and what day it was like he was going to do before Donna stopped him..

Kenzi

i thought she was an eternal not in that movie as menerva but maybe im wrong
