There were three kids in the end cuz one of them was Cal 😉

There's only one way to sum up River Song without giving too much away: River's past is The Doctor's future. So yes, you will see River again, but it will be at an earlier point in her life.

In the first part they explain how they are meeting in the opposite way. Every time they meet River is older and the Doctor is younger. It can be tricky to get in the first watch

this episode is fantastic it's so difficult to write a devastating end for a character you've not even met yet. alex kingston plays river so well too. this is a popular episode for people to rewatch much later on in the show once you know her full story and see her ending in a very different light. can't wait for the rest of this season it's all just as good!

River did die, and that is the end of her physical life (he uploaded her to the computer, and the rest of the dead crew were waiting for her). The stuff she spoke about happened in her past, but the Doctor's future, so they aren't impacted by her death. They will still happen from HIS perspective. Remember, time is a big ball of wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff.

You may know River from any number of things. The actress is Alex Kingston. She was a major player on ER for several seasons and has guested on lots of other shows.

Remember like few days ago everyone was crying watching Grey's? I was very unmoved there. But here watching this 2-parter in one go I was now bawling the last third of this episode. I love Alex Kingston ever since her ER days, and she really had a hard task here to sold you on this unspoken relationship she in her past (and the Doctor in his future) experience. This is one of those episodes that on 1st watch is already very good, but really shines on subsequent rewatches. I think I have read they wanted originally Kate Winslet for the role, but I am happy they casted Alex, as she really was amazing here.

River is a very intriguing character. They did a very good job in getting us to believe that she and The Doctor have this special bond. The scene that solidifies this is when she whispers in The Doctor's ear and he immediately trusts her implicitly. So, River dying here wouldn't affect her past self since this is the last moment of her life (remember this is time travel). Her past self hasn't met The Doctor yet. But, man that ending where Donna just misses seeing her "fake" husband who actually happens to be real, that just guts me. Also, the ending where The Doctor "saves" River reminds me a lot of the last Black Mirror episode you reacted to ;)

Psychic Travis strikes again lol, you guessed a lot of things right during this reaction. But you did also guess some things wrong too. Of course not telling you what exactly because "spoilers." But I can say that you're right about this two parter really setting up things for the future. At the end of this season, and the 4 specials following it, there's a change of show runner. The show runner from seasons 1-4 is Russell T Davies, then from seasons 5-10 is Steven Moffat. Steven is a GENIUS writer and show runner, he wrote the episode Blink with the Weeping Angels that you liked and he wrote this two parter too. Steven's whole thing is complex stories and mysteries that get solved in the most genius ways. That's all I can say for now but you're really heading towards the best part of the show and Steven is the reason for that. I'm worried about the next episode coming up for reasons I'll explain when we get to it lol. But then we have the three part season finale and you're going to LOVE it for sure. Excited. 😊

Rivers great. It is super confusing. Even knowing the whole story already I get confused about the timelines but basically yeah, they are both travelling around space and time but in a different order to each other. So Rivers personal future with the doctor has come to an end but the Doctors personal future will meet up with her personal past at various points in universal time. Lol.... simple right???? 😂

ahh "spoilers" gotta love it... (you'll understand further Travis when we get to it....)
