As Agatha Christie is in this episode, they put as many of her story titles into the script

David Tennants real father appears as one of the butlers at the start of the episode as well

I am a huuuuge fan of Doctor who so it’s great to see you watching this and seeing your reactions.

I totally agree with your thoughts on this episode. It's fun but the wasp CGI isn't great lol and the story also isn't brilliant. But I love Donna too. She cracks me up. That scene when The Doctor is trying to reverse the poisoning never fails to make me laugh. She's always really adamant that her and The Doctor aren't a couple so that makes her kissing him even more funny. He looked so freaked out. 😂 And I love how Donna's eating popcorn while everyone's trying to figure out who the murderer is. As I've said before, the actress Catherine Tate is a comedian. So she really brought that into the role of Donna. A lot of Donna's lines are improvised by Catherine. And I see you noticed the thing about the bees being brought up again. Glad you're noticing that. 👀 Also yes, Agatha Christie really did disappear for 10 days. No one knows what actually happened. There are a lot of conspiracy theories about it but we'll probably never know. And yes she really did write that book about a giant killer wasp. So I see what they were going for in the episode are there are good parts, but it just wasn't executed very well. It's not one that I rewatch often. But the next episodes are a two part story and they're brilliant. At least I think so. They're also important for the future of the show. So I'm excited to see what you think. 😊

I feel the same as you about this episode. There are elements that I really loved, nothing I really didn't like but just as a whole it falls slightly short. I think it might be that it's trying to be too many things, the murder mystery, the historical info and the aliens. It's kind of silly and kind of serious. I think if it had really leaned heavily into being a totally ridiculous madcap murder mystery..... Or leaned into the historical bit and been a bit more serious then it might have become a favourite. Like I enjoyed so many aspects but never really became immersed in the story.

And I feel the same way about Donna. I love all the companions in one way o another but I have such a soft spot for Donna and Catherine Tate does such a wonderful job.

This episode reminds me very heavily of clue and I love it for that reason alone!

Fun fact, Clue (or Cluedo as it's known in the UK) is actually inspired by the works of Agatha Christie. So it was very fitting to give this episode that "Clue" feel.
