What an intense episode! I'm not even sure I fully understand what the mom was doing...I get that she was the one who cleaned up all the blood from the fridge but like she knew her son had kidnapped that kid and she was just not doing anything about it? Why had she gone to the place where the kid was so many times? I'm glad they focused the ultimate culpability on someone other than the mentally ill guy. Sadly there have been cases of people with psychosis doing terrifying things like this and it's because they don't receive the proper care (for any number of reasons: stigma, access, improper diagnosis/treatment, etc.). Cases as extreme as was shown here thankfully are rare.

This is one of my fav episodes from the first season. Intense!

I think she knew and hid it out of embarrassment. Same as why she didn’t tell anyone that he had been to a mental facility

The junkie is played by Doug Jones, one of (if not the) greatest character actors, and a favorite of director Guillermo Del Toro. You can't even recognize him in his most famous roles because they all involve him wearing head-to-toe prosthetics and sfx makeup. He was the Pale Man in Pan's Labyrinth, Abe Sapian in the Del Toro Hellboy series, and the fish guy in The Shape of Water. All excellent movies that you should watch, if you haven't seen them yet.

Great reaction as always! I don’t think anyone would mind if you paused to comment on stuff, we like to hear what you have to say! 😊 I certainly wouldn’t. Pause as often as you want!

2023-08-03 19:00:40 It's been so long since I saw this show that it's like I'm watching the episodes for the first time. Some of the actors that play the unsubs are incredibly talented and skilled. I've never tried acting, but conjuring up that meth guy's level of distress at a moments notice with a room full of cameras and crew? Never could do it. I always hate admitting I was one of those kids whose parents bailed them out of everything and did everything for me. It was such a bad thing to do. It took me until my late 30s to get my head out of my ass. The reason I do admit it is because the Millennial generation gets a bad rap for it. But that helicopter parenting started with mine. I'm 45 and Gen-Xer. I'm sorry if this is a spoiler, but I wanted to warn you that the show gets more and more disturbing. Sometimes I wonder who the hell they have writing all this creepy, F'd up shit.
