the office is the best show to play in the background while doing something, most people think its a little slow (especially first season) but it is so funny, random and has amazing one liners. Definitely a show to think about watching even just personally. It has a lot of charm

Agreed. I know that they worked with a system called "the writers room" Wich has 10/15 writers and they all HAVE to try to shut down every idea, every line, EVERY PUNCH LINE that may not be as funny, and what survive it's brought to the show. Modern family is another show that was written that way. I think that's the best way to filter all the ideas and what made those shows so great
