Jennifer Lopez actually didn’t sing anything they had her lip sync to Selena’s song per her family’s request. So that’s pretty cool to hear Selena’s voice throughout the movie

Her dad was also one of the producers of the movie so I would say it’s pretty accurate and she won female vocalist of the year at the tejano music awards when she was 15.

This is such a well made bio film and anyone that says Jennifer can't act hasn't seen this. She is really good here and embodied Selena perfectly. I like that once they talk about the murder and her death they focus completely on the real Selena, they never show Jennifer again. I'm so glad they didn't film the murder scene, we don't need to see it, plus only one person knows what really happened and that is Yolanda and we can't honestly believe anything she says, she went back and forth so many times on her story. And this movie was about her life, not her murder. The ending is very well done and heartbreaking and the fact that she and Chris were planning to start a family makes it even worse! The real Chris to this day still morns her, he has said that the only scene he can bare to watch is when they are in the hotel room and talking about eloping, mostly because it was pretty much word for word of what was really said. A couple of fun facts, Jennifer was so perfect for the role that she wore Selena's real clothes and they didn't need to alter them in any way and she had to do every twirl or dancing step perfectly, just like Selena did it. She actually spent months living with the real family in order to get Selena down. When we first meet Chris they zoom in on his hands and that's the real Chris' hands and him actually playing the guitar. During her fashion show they do show real footage from it and you can see the real Selena in them. And towards the end when her dad is telling her about the stolen money there are posters and cardboard cuts in the background and that's really her too. And you were correct the actress that played her mother was not much older then Jennifer, maybe 5 or so years older, lol.

Jlo actually did sing 3 words for the movie which was that slow Como la flor part during the stage break down scene.

I actually met Abe (the brother) and his current wife in Maui a few years ago. He was a customer of mine in a jewelry store, helped him pick out a nice bracelet for his wife and she loved it so much he came back with her to get the rest of the set, I spent hours with them talking and showing her all my favorite pieces. I've been a fan of Selena since way before this movie came out so I had a mini fan girl attack after he left the first time I met him. I had realized who he was after checking ID and stuff while ringing him up but I never brought it up until after they came back a few days later to get the set. He was so chill and such a humble soul. His wife was very sweet too but she seemed to be quite a bit younger honestly. Definitely an odd looking couple but they really loved each other and he seemed happy. I use to stay in contact with her letting them know when we got new stuff in but after the covid shut down I wasn't working or able to reach out to get her new pieces and she must have gotten a new phone number because when I got back to work and called to check in with a design she wanted the number was disconnected so it's been a few years since I've heard from them.

No matter how many times I watch this movie I bawl at the end. Great movie. Tragic she lost her life so young. And the fact she wanted to start a family with Chris makes it sadder. Your face when you heard she was just 23 broke my heart because you don’t realize how old she was until she passed away

She was too kind. That old hag was jealous of how beautiful and talented Selena was. God she was so young she would've been my sisters age by now...my sister was a big fan of hers I remember being a little girl and she would watch this movie on repeat.
