LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!! Can’t wait to watch this when I’m back from work!

Ilsuk Yang

Yeah, definitely one of my favorite episodes, too, so far. Reinette is very pretty and her actress brings a grace and tranquility to this role for sure. We've seen how quickly the Doctor can become attached to someone (I mean, he barely knows Rose and look how quickly he became attached to her), but never quite like he has with Reinette. Her story is sad and poignant, yet she carried herself with strength and nobility. I'm enjoying your growing love for this show, Travis. I won't say anything else so that you don't get spoiled by any lingering details

Roxanne

By the way, if no one's already told you, snogged is British slang for kissed

During these reactions, I'm always thinking about stuff to tell him, but I forgot to tell him about this since it was said fairly early in the episode 😅

Cadence

This is one of my favorite episodes of the whole show. Unlike 9-1-1 and SPN, I actually only have 5-6 favorite episodes of this show.

ToadStooled

This episode is one of my favorites from the whole show! It is done really Well it's funny, sad, scary, romantic. we get another glimpse into The doctors life and childhood. It's a strong episode with a lot of information for us to receive.

Siobhan Linehan

I've been looking forward to this reaction. Such a stunning episode! The writer for this one, Stephen Moffat, is my favourite Doctor Who writer. He takes over from Russell T Davies as head writer from season 5 until season 11 and some of my favourite episodes are in that era. He seems to write romance and heartbreak so beautifully. This is in my top 20 episodes for sure but, controversially, isn't in my top 10. Simply for the way Rose was treated. The Doctor met Reinette like three times and he was willing to give up Rose and leave her stranded on a spaceship? Nah that doesn't sit right with me. The Doctor and Rose are in love and have such a special connection that's shown in every episode they have together apart from this one, where it's like The Doctor almost forgets she exists. I don't like that. But that aside I really do love it. My favourite line is "The Doctor is worth the monsters" because that's really how all his companions feel. They get put in life or death situations all the time but they don't care as long as they get to stay with him. He's that special. 👌 I look forward to the next episodes. It's another two part story, a really good one. And you meet another of The Doctor's recurring enemies. There are three big enemies of The Doctor who show up time and time again throughout the seasons. One is the Daleks, who you've already met a couple of times. The second you meet in these next two episodes. And the third you'll meet in season 3. Exciting! 😊

This is definitely up there as a top episode for me. It's such great storytelling from Moffat. David Tennant the actress who plays Reinette were actually dating at the time. I actually really like how at the end WE get to find out why they wanted her brain specifically (since the ship was named after her, they assumed that her brain was the only one they could use) but the Doctor never does find out. It's one of the few times we actually know more than the Doctor lol.

A lot of people love this episode. Many Whovians (yes there's a name for fans of the show 🤣) fall into two camps, Russell T Davies fans (the showrunner for seasons 1-4) and Stephen Moffatt fans (showrunner from season 5). I like RTD but prefer SM, and when it comes to the writing for individual episodes I have to give the win to Stephen Moffatt. All of my favourite episodes were written by him. In season 1 he wrote the empty child arc which were my favourite episodes of that season. This episode is my fave for season 2 and is a Moffat one, then next season you've got Blink (scary), then S4 has silence in the library (River!! 💗💗😢), S5 has Time of Angels (so scary!!), as well as Vincent and the Doctor which includes my favourite scene of any show ever (iykyk), and I actually love the madcap chaos of the pandorica storyline, yes a lot of it makes no sense and the plot armour is kind of ridiculous but it's just SO MUCH FUN! I could go on and on.

I can see why Dr/rose shippers would feel that way. Their romance always bugged me tbh so I prefer the episodes that don't focus on it. My favourite companion is (somewhat controversially) Donna "You're not matin' with me sunshine" Noble 🤣

Siobhan Linehan

I love Doctor and companion romances, which is why my favourite companions are Clara and Rose. Clara especially. But I do love Donna. She's SO sassy and she cracks me up. Not sure how Travis will react to her though, she's very OTT and he sometimes doesn't like characters like that. But I hope he'll like her. She has some great episodes. 😊

Sean Silence

I love Donna for Catherine Tate. She and David Tennant are such good friends and they have amazing chemistry.

Siobhan Linehan

Yeah I love Catherine too. I was a big fan of hers even before she was on Doctor Who. I'm going to have to get Travis to react to Catherine's nan character at some point. 😂

JIM SCHMITZ

He should have remembered from Harry Potter and the Half-blood Prince.

JIM SCHMITZ

Oh, 'Blink'!!.; One of the most original and nerve-wracking concepts of any show of this type.

Your reactions are always amazing, but this one was phenomenal. I love how you always connect with the source material and you definitely didn’t disappoint here

Varvara Meiris

I actually don't see any drama here with Rose, on the contrary, she is so understanding and helpful (also Sarah-Jane surely influenced her in a good way). She loves him but she feels for him so much in this moment, and that understanding and compassion overcome any hint of jealousy. I love Rose and Doctor with all my heart and they are my biggest ship of the series, but this story just breaks my heart, as I'm sure it broke Rose's, for the Doctor.

2023-08-23 13:22:42 I'm with you - this episode is a beautiful one. It's unique and sad and sweet and unusual. And even kind of romantic - with the time period, the setting, the gorgeous gowns she wore, and especially the slightly haunting music. It's a good one, and so interesting. And I love what you said about getting to see a different side of the Doctor. So true! <3
