It is really sad when it comes to bullys. The ones who are the biggest assholes are usually the ones with the most trauma. I loved the highschool I went too. We didn't really have bullys like the ones in here. The special needs kids would get picked on by random new kids sometimes but the jocks would usually step in and knock it right off when they saw someone sitting alone being heckled. They would move their entire squad during lunch and sit with them at their table and just spend time engaging with them alot of the time. It was really cool to see. I hope it's still like that now. One of the special needs kids actually got nominated for prom King and the popular girl who was likely to win prom queen asked him to prom with her since they were both favored to win. Prom queens boyfriend was in the prom group with them and he took the special needs younger sister as his date and they made a whole night out of it just to make sure he felt comfortable through out the night. I was so proud of the class of 2007 for being so open minded and heartfelt and actually rooting for the underdogs at our school.

I love the flashback episodes like this, but I love a lot of moments in this one especially (I used to have a necklace that had “The Whistle makes me their God” and a mini whistle on it because of the Gym Teacher Dean line 😂). Colin Ford is amazing as young Sam (he also played Sam in the Christmas episode back in season 3). Dean is 4 years older than Sam, so in the flashbacks they’re a senior and Freshman.

2023-04-01 20:31:11 This episode is sad, but as you said, giving more context to the boys as adults. Sam always felt like a freak- out of place- just wanted to be normal. And Dean, under the seemingly hard exterior he was just a sad, lonely little boy with a huge responsibility on his shoulders “ Always take care of Sammy” He was his little brother’s mom & dad from the time he was six, and mostly alone. They were both surviving the best they knew how with no guidance or role models. At this point in the series they’re still learning about themselves as adults & brothers. Lighter note: one of the costars wore the gym teacher’s garb as Halloween costume 😂

Colin Ford is my absolute favorite young Sam-I thought the casting of him was spot on. I always love the flashback episodes as well-I always feel they give us a better understanding of why the boys turned out like they are
