I completely forgot that Jake was such a good singer (I think I forgot about 80% of this show, maybe more 🤣)! They did Melissa (Marley) wrong by having her sing "with" Lea. If they had sing by herself (with a song better suited for her voice), it would've had a much bigger impact. Plus, you already have way better singers than her on The New Directions, already, so comparing her to Rachel did her a disservice. Having said that, she has a more chill, deeper tone to her voice with hints of jazz styling to it that I dig. Her voice is one that I can listen to and just relax, whereas Lea/Rachel has that voice where you shut up and listen. I love Marley's mom and how supportive she is of her daughter. Her not wanting the other kids to know that Marley is her daughter is such a sweet thing to do. And Burt setting Kurt free was so sweet as well (I love Burt). Yeah, Cassandra July is a piece of work (in more ways than one ;) )! She is a hot, sizzling mess. Yeah, season 4 has a different vibe that'll I'll mention more of the further we get into season 4. Some big performances and surprises coming up ;)

Amber Karin

You may know Marley better as Supergirl

blamphan

I just absolutely love season 4. I know a lot of people don’t like the two settings but I honestly love it and I genuinely love the New Directions this season, it finally feels more diverse.

Nicole Sadler

Yay, I'm looking forward to your reactions to this season!! Very different but still fun in my opinion!! :D

Flo

So when mr shue put up the sign up sheet everyone rushed to sign up but yet when he put up the list there were only nine names on it (and we know they need twelve to compete) and Marley (and Unique) were the only new members. So you’re telling me only one person out of all the people who auditioned was good enough to make it in and yet Sugar Motta got a spot?!

Marek Barwinek

From now on my goal is to boost glee every month lmao

Annie Willow

I think it’s hilarious that Britt, Blaine, Tina, and Unique thought that Rachel would have chosen “Call Me Maybe” for a sing off. She absolutely would have chosen a Broadway number. I still loved it and it did fit Britt and Blaine’s voices very well.

Kate Hudson is fucking amazing. She is gorgeously hott. I fucking love how awful she is in her character. She has a real katherine peirce vibe being sexy and her snarky attitude. It's so funny how mean she is to Rachel but in real life she and Lea Michelle were very close. When Corey Monteith died Kate literally gave up her the house she lived in so that Lea could hide out from the paparazzi for as long as she needed, like weeks.

Gracie

I agree. They set that poor girl up having her sing side by side Rachel.

Flo

I remember thinking that exact thing when this episode originally aired

ross

Completely agree regarding Marley’s voices. Mercedes, Santana and Rachel all had distinct, powerful voices. I feel like Marley and Tina have very similar voices.

EmmWork

Marley and Jake sing some of my ABSOLUTE favorite glee covers. Can’t wait to watch the rest of the season with you!

I miss seeing our old favorites, but it is a nice change of pace to meet some of the newbies. First off, Kate Hudson is a revelation. I remember when it first aired, I was gobsmacked at how talented she is and that none of us had any idea. She's hot and a bitch, but I sense a theme in what I like because Santana is also my favorite and I said the exact same thing about her when we first met her, lol. So far, I like both Marley and Jake. Jake is definitely hot and his voice is one of my favorites of the newbies. I love that they totally shocked us with the reveal of his connection to Puck, but a lot of his attitude makes complete sense now. I love Marley and her mom. I'm really glad that they brought in another parent and she's my second favorite of the glee parents because Burt Hummel continues to win that top spot because he's just an amazing dad. I always tear up seeing him push for Kurt to go to New York and then break down as he's walking away. Dean Geyer (Brody) is a terrific addition as eye candy. I had the pleasure of meeting him at a glee event back in the day and he is just one of the nicest people and I was surprised to find out that he is Australian...I was mesmerized by his accent (I'm a big sucker for them). I liked the throwbacks to the pilot episode. Having Brody sing in the shower like Finn did and having Jake stand at the back of the auditorium and then leave just like Puck did in the pilot. Those moments made me miss the OGs even more.

Melissa Benoist who plays Marley "The new rachel" also play Supergirl in the serie of the same name so yes big actress, i dont know if its from there that you find her familiar but now you know. If you want a little anecdote, the man who plays superman in the same serie and later in his own show is Tyler Hoenchlin ( Derek from teen wolf ) and the man who play Sebastian of the warblers ( Grant gustin ) here in glee also play the Flash in his own serie, who is in the same univers as supergirl ( the Arrowverse with all the series like arrow, flahs, supergirl, legend of tomorow, batwoman ect. ) so Melissa ( Marley ) and Grant ( Sebastian ) have done some crossover together, one of them was a musical episode where they sing together and Darren criss ( Blaine ) also sing in that episode, watching the 3 of them play together after glee was so fun.

"Why is Blaine so adorable?" is a question I asked myself basically every episode since he joined in 2x6 🤣 And about the effects on his voice - fear not because we get some very nice stripped down Blaine vocals this season 👏 Season 4 is such a weird, mixed bag and I can't wait for you to see!

vince

Yay Glee is back :) Season 4 is an insane season, even though it has mixed opinions it certainly pushes the boundaries a lot which I think is a good thing

Siobhan Linehan

This episode is a great introduction to season 4. It's my favourite season overall, I think it's really funny and it has some great and crazy storylines. I totally agree that they shouldn't have had Marley singing with Rachel. Lea can outsing most people, so anyone they pair with her needs to be a powerhouse and Marley just isn't. But she does have a beautiful voice and she sounds a lot better on some upcoming songs. And she's a fantastic character. Jake is awesome too, he's a bit problematic but his voice is GORGEOUS! 😂 I always hate how the New Directions don't stop the cheerleaders and football players from hating on Marley's mum. Even Artie, Brittany and Sugar joined in. But it was realistic, there was an overweight teacher at my school and the popular kids would taunt her all the time. It was awful. And I guess I can understand that sometimes when you're a teenager you want to do anything to be popular yourself. But I'm glad they came around in the end and realized that it's better to be kind than to be popular. The way they portrayed this was a good lesson for viewers I think. Oh and the "new Rachel" stuff wasn't about Marley. It was half about Rachel disovering herself in New York and half about the New Directions fighting over who the lead soloist will be. Marley was never meant to be like a Rachel replacement, she's her own person and she's very different. I can't wait for the next episode. I think you're going to love it, you see a very different side to Rachel. 👀😂

Travis Manning

IDK I def think they set that up for Marley to be the new Rachel for SURE especially since they shared that duet! Maybe my opinion will change as it continues...

Siobhan Linehan

I get what you mean, it does seem this way in the first episode. But I'm confident that your opinion will change soon. 🙂

EmmWork

LOL how about ALL of us boost 😂 poor Travis is gonna get Rachel-ed out in no time 💀

Ilsuk Yang

Yeah, I was so confused for a second. I was like, "I feel like I would've remembered him being that good" 🤣

2023-04-01 20:31:12 I am glad that you seem to like it. I've seen a lot of reactors hating on having two settings. Tbh I only watched Season 4 & 5 for our OG members back in the days and so I remember more about the New York stuff than about the new Glee Club. I think I couldn't get behind the new characters but I hope I will learn to like them while watching with you. I DO remember Jake though, and I think I liked him.

I remember practically nothing about the new Glee Club, just bits and pieces here and there. I'm probably not even remembering it correctly 🤣🤣🤣. I do remember liking most of the music, though

TimeLord10

Burt is the greatest tv dad and marley's mom has to be in the running for best tv mom. I honestly can't wait to see more unique in this season. Love Alex Newall. Just finished watching another musical series with them in it. So good.

Manfred

From here on the series really makes you miss the OGs but it does have some good moments, and covers specially!

I immediately liked Marley's voice and character a lot and I'm glad she's no new Rachel because never liked her voice. She was also in that Oscar winning movie Whiplash. Don't like the changes they made, I think they got rid of the heavyweights of the show and it really feels lacking something, and even the switch to digital camera instead of film, makes it feel cheaper.

Capri Zonica

And to be honest, that song fit Brit and Tina the best. They sounded better in my opinion. Some songs don't really need big vocals, just certain vibes.

BtsOT79798

Marley's actress also goes on to portray Supergirl in the CW show like how Sebastian's character portrays the Flash in the similar CW show of the arrowverse

Alex Sivori

I'm a sucker for Melissa Benoist (I hope I spelled that right) she also plays Supergirl!

Sam Dulisse

I don't see anyone mentioning this: Sue's daughter was given the name Robin to honor Robin Trocki, the actress that played Jean, Sue's sister.
