Yay!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it as much as I do 🫶🏻 I bawl like a baby during “my house” and “still holding my hand”. The song “quiet” really resonated with me as someone who’s struggled with anxiety. She’s basically disassociating when the shot changes to her in the hot air balloon. Going to her happy place and tuning all the hurt and stress out. Most of us know that all too well! I originally thought this movie was going to be a little kiddy, but I’m glad I was mistaken. Such a beautiful story of love and friendship. I definitely recommend a rewatch! Those kids can dance! And yes, the music is incredible! Spotify has the album ☺️ Thank you, Travis!

The original Matilda movie is actually my favorite movie of all time. I used to watch it constantly as a kid. I always avoided the stage show because I really didn’t want to ruin my experience with the story if I didn’t like it. I was so nervous to watch this the first time, but I am so happy I did, and I’m glad I got to experience your reaction Travis!! I have grown to love it just as much, if not more than the original movie!! It feels more real in a sense and “Quiet” always makes me cry. I have autism (only diagnosed 2 years ago as an adult) but the song seriously incapsulates the inner monologue of feeling super overstimulated and confused and overwhelmed constantly. When I first watch this movie I literally balled my eyes out because I had never heard a song that so specifically captured every single feeling of mine before. I think the little girl who played Matilda was phenomenal and the perfect choice. Everyone in this cast was extraordinarily talented. Thanks Emily for choosing this magnificent film and musical!

Finally got the time to sit down and watch this with you. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. Tim Minchin who did the music is an incredible musician, a lyrical genius, an amazing actor and voice actor, a funny af stand up and musical comic and an all round super nice guy. I'm so happy for him that he is finally getting the attention he deserves outside of Australia.
