The Originals S1E1 is almost exactly the same as this episode. BUT it includes some important bits that are not in this episode. So it is but it also isn’t, if that makes sense.

nah actually vampire diaries and originals always aired back to back so it’s not that hard. just something to be aware of.

I love tvd, but I can't wait until Travis gets to The Originals. Seeing those characters and places again, especially Klaus and Elijah setting on those benches. And the Klaus/Marcel love/hate relationship!
