Another great reaction! When it comes to this film plot wise, its kind of meh to me and a lot of it feels..misplaced?Like its messy but not so messy you don't understand what's happening. And the music was good but I kind of forget all the music once the movie is over. Also I was waiting for the introduction of Mr.Baker to Rapunzel as brother and sister since Meryl Streeps character told him he has a sister that belongs to her which could only mean Rapunzel is his sister, but at the same it would also mean he was at least 5-10 years old when his mom was pregnant so how did he forget? This might sound mean, but there's no way James Corden is the "little brother". What happened to lil Reds mom and grandma since she only said she couldn't find them not that they died. I will say I did appreciate the performances of the cast vocally and acting wise and also how the film relied more on the tales from The Brothers Grimm ( evil step sisters being blinded, red and grannie released from the wolf by the "hunter" etc) and not the Disney versions. I think sometimes we all forget that Disney didn't actually create the fairytales they just watered them down for kids and families which makes sense because as you saw they can get pretty fuckin dark. Suggestions for musicals that you might enjoy: -Hairspray -Tick Tick Boom -IN the Heights -West Side Story (Classic or remake both are equally excellent) -La La Land -Rodger and Hammersteins Cinderella, yes its a TV movie but its my favorite Cinderella. One of the most diverse casts and Whitney Houston,Brandy and Broadway legend Bernadette Peters in the leads? yes please! I don't know if you've seen any of them and if you have then great! If not then I would love to see your reaction(s). Only if you'd want to of course and if time allows. I know you busy. Apologies for the novel length comment! Thanks! Stay Awesome! ❤️

You're not alone (as the song said) in your lukewarm assessment. Many I've heard from find Sondheim an acquired taste. His rhythms and lyrics can be off-putting. When I learned of this version with that cast, I had great expectations, too. I just wanted to give you the experience. My next musical choice will reflect your comments. See you then.

I love Into The Woods, and I think even a lot of us theatre nerds were sad it didn't measure up. So I feel your comment, but I totally love that you requested it!!!

Okay, I can respect that you were meh about this. Even those of us who love Into The Woods were not really amazed by this version of the story. I mean for me I feel like you don't truly get the full weight of the characters wanting a life not their own, and then getting those lives and finding out it was indeed not everything they wanted and the story correcting it for them (giving them what they need instead of what they want). I really think Once Upon a Time is basically a better screen adaptation of Into The Woods than this movie is. I have always had such a hard time with hero characters, as they often land very blandly, and would often much prefer to play a villain as they have a lot more depth. This story and particularly this movie is no exception. The baker, his wife, and cinderella are so bland. But for me, Meryl and her characterisation of the witch bring this movie back from the brink of death. I also enjoy Little Red's Comedic timing. "I sort of hate to ask it but do you have a basket?" "Don't ever never mess around with my greens... especially the beans." I always forget how much sexual innuendo is in this play, but this movie made the WRONG CHOICE of casting Johnny Depp for the Wolf. The Wolf obviously isn't supposed to be a likeable character, but he isn't supposed to make you visibly uncomfortable. The creep factor was way too over the top. I remember thinking ICK at the time, and even now that opinion has not changed. "I was raised to be charming, not sincere" -my favourite line from this of all time. If nothing else Agony (and agony reprise which was not in the movie) are my favourite songs from this play.

I remember trying to watch this movie one time. I think I got 30 minutes in and turned it off. I was just expecting more
