It never made sense to me that Murray drank the coffee. I mean this is the guy who has a camera outside his house and doesn’t trust anybody, especially not Russians but he’s dumb enough to drink coffee served to him from a shady Russian stranger? I remember thinking “I would not drink that” the first time I watched the show. To me it would’ve made more sense if he pretended to drink and faked passing out.

Thought exactly the same thing. The writers messed up on this, or they have an ultimate story behind it.

Sadie Sink is incredible in this episode. I find it heartbreaking that Max’s reaction to knowing she’s likely to die an agonizing death in less than a day is just - acceptance, almost like she wishes to have it over with. Sink does a great job portraying that, and that the underlying reason is not apathy but having suffered so much trauma and guilt. The scene in the graveyard is probably the most iconic from this show (perhaps only rivalled by El flipping the car in S1). The choice of song is really clever, too. Obviously, ”running up that hill” pairs well witg Max running for her life, but beyond that as well. The lyrics talk about wanting to make a deal with God and ”ask him to trade our places”, which is something Max has probably done too, wanting to trade places with Billy in her darkest moments.

Sadie is a great actress! Watching her, you believe it, she becomes the character of Max and it's no longer acting. The suspense that builds during this season is amazing and this episode has a huge hand in that! If this is how you're reacting not even halfway through the season, just wait!
