My views on some of these songs (and singers) have changed so much during this rewatch. Before my Glee playlist was (from when I watched the show 10-12 years ago) pretty much all Finn, Rachel and Blaine. Now it’s all Santana, Mercedes and Blaine lol. I clearly didn’t know good music the first time I watched the show.

rachel wasn't in the born this way number because this was when finn knocked her nose and broke it... she spent the whole time figuring out if she should get a nose job or not... ultimately deciding not to... reason why she wasnt in the number to have her nose heal... and staying away from finn as it does...

I really think Mercedes, Santana and Blaine are my favourites too, voice wise and a lot of the time character wise too. Although, Sam is definitely another favourite character and voice of mine too.

Am I totally misremembering Walking on Sunshine/Halo being part of the set list? I remember seeing a video of them performing it live and Lea holding that crazy last note!

I totally forgot about that mini Warbler toddler who wanted to be like Blaine and dressed like him and knew the whole routine. Oh my gosh... he was SO CUTE! Adorable. My freaking heart.

It was so fun watching this with you. I actually have unique knowledge of this tour they did because my uncle was the sound engineer. The tour was 40 dates long and grossed over 50 million dollars. The concert movie was filmed in New Jersey. 80% of the vocals were completely live, even for the movie. You're right that all the backing vocals weren't live, even the backing Warblers weren't live. But all the main actors sang completely live, all the sound guys did is stabalize their voices. Because of all the jumping around they had to do that so it would sound good, but that's all they did. This cast is BEYOND talented. My uncle said the cast members who needed the least stabilizing were Lea and Kevin. Not surprised by that, they both blew me away. Lea especially is UNBELIEVABLE live, her voice is on another level. 👌 The only song that was lip synced was Born This Way, this was a decision taken by the cast due to the choreography. Gwyneth was a guest star for two shows only, they asked her to come along just a week before the shows and she agreed. She'd hardly rehearsed that performance and she smashed it. She was singing totally live too. The Warblers all had ice packs inside their blazers because they were really overheating in those layers under the lights. And even with the ice packs they'd all go backstage after their three songs drenched in sweat. 🙈 Lea did a fun little thing where she'd walk out holding a different person's hand every time Chris sang I Want To Hold Your Hand. The parts where Mark and Darren sing while walking through the crowd were a pain in the ass for the security guards because people would constantly try to grab them. In their last show in Dublin, Darren's blazer was pulled so hard that he nearly fell over. During the tour a lot of the cast would kiss each other and sleep with each other, let's just say my uncle saw some things at the backstage parties lol. One night he saw Chord make out Naya, Diana and Lea. 😂 After one of the London shows Amber got into a fight with a girl. She punched that girl in the face and then got security to pay the girl so she wouldn't make it public. Amber herself admitted this a few years later but my uncle saw it first hand, it was really nasty apparently. Lea, Kevin and Jenna got matching tattoos saying "imagine" on their feet after a drunken night out. Apparently none of them regret this which is lucky haha. And on the last night of the tour the cast were so upset that they spent like an hour hugging backstage before leaving. I really love that. Despite all the romances and the arguments that did happen, the cast really did get along well back then for the most part. The only people who hated each other at that point were Naya and Mark, they dated for a while during season one and the break up was far from amicable. Apparently they wouldn't speak at all during the tour. But yeah, apart from that they were all genuine friends. 😊

I've been listening to the Kevin and Jenna podcast (Artie and Tina) and they've always said how exhausting glee was overall and especially tour bc they had to do multiple shows a week, multiple countries and flights... but recently they're saying how the girls were SO exhausted by it, especially. and now rewatching the concert with you i'm really having a lot more respect for this young women cast bc i've heard some bad stories from them on the pod, them being overworked and mentally/physically dead, but i see this concert where Rachel is singing idk how many solos and slaying them with the biggest energy and smile on her face, Santana having the energy of a lifetime, Brittany being in basically every number dancing her ass off, Mercedes killing every notes and Tina and Quinn are also giving their all while having little to no credit in the singing credits! i've always admired all the actors for being triple threats and slaying at such a young age, but the women part of the cast truly is where the bright shines harder and they were truly rockstars!

about Rachel not being there for Born This Way, she wasn't in the number in the show, but i know she also wasn't in the live version of River Deep/Lucky/Forget You and that's bc as you saw, she had a lot of songs in the concert, bc she's the main character, and so she was changing/going from one stage to another or simply preparing for another performance! i think Brittany goes back stage in the middle of the "Sing" performance and also at the end of "River Deep" usually for the same reasons of scheduling and stuff! but in the later parts of the tour, i love how they randomly join new performances like for "safety dance" you saw Brittany, but lots of cast member went to dance there too (not specifically for the movie recording but other tour dates) or for "river deep" they're dancing along, i also remember rachel joined "born this way" and did her entry with Quinn for one of the last dates of tour! also you saw Blaine in Loser Like Me when he's not in glee club when they sing this in s2 but that was basically them saying "hey he's here to stay" lol

i love river deep SO MUCH! but the live version has always been weird to me bc their voices are at 200%, yes. but when it comes to energy and dancing, Naya was at like 150% and i feel like Amber was at like 80% and i see a difference you know! idk! still great tho just "odd", but as i said previously, those girls are HARD working!! so it was probably just Amber being tired and overworked or Naya being too professional and with high energy
