Fabulous!! Thank you so very much for posting your reaction to Wicked: The Original Broadway Cast album, Travis!! I can't wait to listen to this album again with you, and I can't wait to see and hear what you think! :) Sincerely, Heidi

I am so glad you reacted to this amazing Musical soundtrack. I did have the privilege of seeing this show when it came to Detroit about 4 years ago and it was absolutely stunning. From the set to the vocals and costumes. For Good is one of my favorite songs from a musical ever. Their vocal chemistry is stunning. Thank you again so much for reacting to this.

I adore this show, It's based on Gregory Maguire's 1995 version of the Oz mythology, which is a different, more adult take on the Baum original. FYI: Glinda is originally known as Galinda until a certain point in the story. This was great! I'm looking forward to the film version. Hope they don't spoil it.

There's a couple fun You Tube side-by-side comparisons of several Elphabas in Defying Gravity. Https://youtu.be/sQUW0SmqqMs - https://youtu.be/VOEk1l1mdOc

I saw it live on Broadway. It was such an amazing show. ❤️❤️

So you're right it's Galinda in Act One, but then she changes it to Glinda at the end of Act One, unknowingly.

I know I'm here a month late, but I've seen this show about 8 times. I love this show, so if you want context I can give it to you. I am a person who will see the same show many times with different actors because I like seeing what each actor brings to the same character. Out of all the shows I've seen of Wicked my favorite cast was when they came to Denver, CO in 2019.

So Act 2 of the show takes place during the events of The Wizard of Oz. So after "As Long As You're Mine" the tornado comes that sends Dorothy. So after that song it all falls in line with The wizard of Oz. And spoiler Fiyero becomes the Scarecrow, that's what "No Good Deed" is. It's her turning Fiyero into the Scarecrow to save his life.

This is my all-time favourite production ever. The first time I saw it was the original cast, on Broadway. So, these voices bring back unforgettable memories for me. So Nessa (or Nessarose is her full name) is Elphaba's sister and is a wheelchair user. Fiyero and Galinda are the cool kids at school. Boq has a massive crush on Galinda and she uses that to get him to ask Nessa to the dance. Also, Doctor Dillamond is a Goat/Man Creature who can talk, but those creatures are slowly losing their ability to speak. And early on in the production, Elphaba is naive enough to believe that if she were just to go ask the Wizard he would surely fix this problem. When I was in high school popular was one of my favourite songs. I'm not that Girl: used to make me weep as a teenager because I was far too dramatic lol. Elphaba is singing this about Fiyero at the time. Defying Gravity- I found it impossible not to cry while watching this live. (look to the western skies - refers to the fact that she becomes the wicked witch of the west. Nessarose becomes the wicked witch of the east and Glinda becomes the good witch of the north) It is after this song that Galinda becomes Glinda. When I was in a production of The Wizard of Oz I got to be the Captain of the guard of The Wicked Witch's Flying monkeys although we didn't have cable to fly on so we roller bladed :P Thank goodness - in the lyrics you can hear them talk about being engaged. Glinda and Fiyero are engaged. But you can hear both of them convey their real feelings through this song, and I love this song for that. They talk about Rebel Animals - they are the ones who are refusing to give up speaking As long as your Mine - Fiyero and Elphaba: this is after a long build-up. From even meeting during dancing through life, you can tell Fiyero has a thing for Elphaba, but because she isn't part of the popular crowd (and she is standoffish) it takes him far too long to do anything about it. No Good Deed - this is my all-time song on this album. probably mainly because I have gotten to perform this song. We incorporated into a British panto when I was in Kenya, and omg it was amazing. I even had a solo in part of it, which was daunting because no way is my voice even slightly as good as Idina's lol. But it was fantastic, regardless. March of the Witch Hunters - ties into the Wizard of Oz the most For Good - this song had me crying for new reasons, damn. You are correct, Elphaba does not die. They create a twist to the Wizard of Oz, because killing your hero after making us love her would probably not play so well with the audience. Oh man now I want to go watch/read/listen to this a bunch more lol
