This was actually quite a popular episode, I don't think it was polarising in the fandom at all. You've probably got this by now, Supernatural does comedy very well and a meta episode like this... well you'll see.... Those notes from the executive about 'can it be brighter' and things like that were ACTUAL notes from the channel about Supernatural... los of little easter eggs in there for people who work in the show lol.

If they have enough self awareness to make fun of themselves then I'm good with it. To me it just seemed like they were poking fun at their own production and found a clever/cheap way of having a laugh at themselves and save some money staying on a set that just had to look and function like a set. I thought the fake/quiet shotgun sounds was hilarious cause that's probably what its actually like and its added in post (?).

So many tongue n cheek references to real people by name from lives of actors, director, producer etc. Right from the opening referencing Jared & Jensen’s previous shows Gilmore Girls & Smallville. Tidbit- when the little scooter zooms past the boys, it’s Robin the prop master on one of the boys cycles that each had on the lot & would race with.
