I like this episode. When I first saw it, I remember being surprised by it. You think you have it all figured out, that maybe he's just worshipping vampire lore or something, and that he's a fool and plans to betray his old friend Buffy for some pie in the sky idea of immortality and likes sexy vampires or something... but then you hear his real reason for doing it, and suddenly it makes sense. It's sad and it sucks and it's still foolish, but... it makes sense why he wants to become a vampire. Which makes the story all that more interesting. Good stuff!
