"Valerie" is definitely one of the best New Directions competition songs as well as one of Santana's best solos (some will argue it is her best solo for me her best solo is a song that is performed in Season 4). Season 2 is really the start of Santana getting more storyline and performing on more songs. Absolutely love the "Dog Days Are Over" cover as well. Some good episodes and covers are coming up. Looking forward to the reactions for them.

Lauren Zizes will stick around for this season only. But she's a great addition for her comedy and her chemistry with Puck. She will have one solo so stay tuned!

Rachel is legit the most selfish and self centered individual that's why no matter her talent she sucks all around for me

I genuinely forgot that they tied at sectionals. Tina is so underrated in New Directions! I really wish they would've focused on her more in the first 2 seasons (honestly don't remember how much she's in the show after season 2 because I barely remember anything about the show after that). Sam's voice is so nice and I actually prefer it over Finn's. Yeah, Rachel is forever playing the victim card, even when it doesn't fit. She's a great talent, but man is she unlikeable! I do empathize with her, but she has way too many moments like the one she had in this episode (and I'm only talking about the first 2 seasons because, again, I can't really remember anything after this). I do love that she and Kurt started a genuine friendship in this episode, though (although, it would've meant more if she had done it while he was still with New Directions). Anyways, I always love the music in this show and wonder how you'll react to the rest of the series

Santana's first solo...it was amazing and she and Amy Winehouse are a match made in heaven, but it's just scratching the surface of her talent. Valerie is a great solo and for a first one, it's pretty epic, but I don't think it's her best one because that would mean that she peaked on her first outing and didn't get better and that's just not true in my eyes. Also, the dancing was epic. Travis, you have to see the live version from the concert movie. Dog Days Are Over is also one of my personal favorite performances because you can just see how much fun the cast with each other. The interactions we see are definitely just the cast goofing off with each other and not storylie driven because you can see Naya interacting and having so much fun with Cory and Kevin, who she was really close in real life, but her character was at odds with their characters, so it wouldn't have been storyline driven. I thought the tie was crap and still do, but get that it was to keep Kurt and the Warblers relevant on the show.

I’d say the friendship between Rachel and Kurt actually really started during Duets and beyond, she was the only one who actually got people together to do anything about Kurt being bullied by Karafsky

This sectionals was Unholy Trinity supremacy! I love Emma for opening Will’s eyes up to highlighting other talents because she is so right, the New Directions are bursting with talent. Quinn and Sam’s duet was so sweet and nostalgic for me. I’ve been singing and dancing to “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” since Dirty Dancing came out when I was 4 years old (I definitely should not have been allowed to watch it at 4 but it’s still one of my favorites.). And of course Santana singing and Brittany and Mike dancing to “Valerie” were just perfection. (And my ringtone for forever just so I can dance to her singing instead of answering when someone calls me.) You really really really need to watch the Glee Live 3D movie after this season for all of their live performances.

I literally get sad now everytime I see Santana on screen. That girl died way too young... and so did Finn and so did Puck as terrible as he kind of was. The glee curse makes rewatching this kind of painful.

The song is from a musical called Evita. It's loosely based on the true story of Eva Peron, a political figure who died of cancer, I think uterine/ovarian cancer?

I don't get it? like...it's an audition for a solo. He did a great job. I don't get how that's not being a good teammate.

Okay Santana singing Valerie is one of my favorite Glee performances ever and wish she got more amazing solos like it.

Santana absolutely killed Valerie but tbh, the Sam and Quinn duet wasn't that great.. i love them as a couple, they have insane chemistry and their voices match pretty well BUT it's like the most boring duet ever, the song is overplayed and they didn't really give a vocal performance.. i'm glad Schue chose to highligh someone else other than Rachel and Finn for the duet, but i think he could have chosen a better duo/better song!

i'm sorry but Rachel is hilarious coming in that room with tape on her mouth bc she feels SILENCED hahaha

the dancing in Valerie literally changed my life forever
