This film is SO good, I love it! I love the commentary on social class, the fact that the tail section are reduced to protein blocks, being treated like criminals, having their children being ripped away from them and then seeing what the first class has that aren't even necessary. I don't think they need saunas and beauty parlors and dance clubs. But in a way you really do get this bonded community from them and after hearing the twist it took a while to do so. It's interesting how every time they continue going up the train and going to a new car someone in their group dies and even though it hurts him Curtis always moves forward. I know a lot of people were mad that he didn't go after Edgar but he had to go after Mason, he was going to be killed regardless, taking her stopped the attack and helped them go farther up the train. I remember when I first saw this I didn't believe him about Gilliam being part of the plan, I really thought he was just trying to get into his head but when you go back and re-watch it, I now see the hints that he was. It was clear he didn't want to go any further past the water, he told him to cut his tongue out when he got to him and I do believe though that Gilliam regretted this, that he truly did love Curtis and Edgar like sons. I would definitely watch it again and find a different copy because I own it on blue-ray and mine has subtitles when Nam talks without the voicebox. There is a lot of information that you sadly missed. He talked about how the ice was melting, they showed a plane and he talks about how it use to be completely covered to where you could barely see it but now it was very visible and he also saw something else but never finished and I think he saw the polar bear. Chris is so good in this movie, he is a very good and underrated actor. People just brush him off because of the MCU which I think he is great there but sadly that's what a lot people just see him as. His monologue is chilling and he really does bring this leader essence to him. Some other roles I suggest from him are Punctured (probably one of his best acting roles), Gifted, The Losers (this one is a really funny, action comedy that really shows off Chris' comedy chops), What's Your Number (a very funny comedy) and he was also really good in a mini series called Defending Jacob.

I am so glad you loved this film. It doesn’t get the love and attention it so highly deserves. It’s an underrated masterpiece IMO. It’s one of my favourite performances from Chris. He’s just so fantastic in it. The monologue about cannibalism outside Wilford’s gate was *chef’s kiss*. I would recommend this movie to anyone.
