Always torn between watching this immediately or wait for another two or three episodes and watch them back to back 😆

I 100% believe he was the killer but Gideon was drowning mentally and that's why it ended up in the air

I may or may not have binged up to season 13 since the last post.....the good thing is I watch so much that it still feels new again lmao

So, when you get to episode 3, I think this episode will make a bit more sense. The voiceover was so-so, but they really wanted to focus on where Gideon is mentally and the voice over was a shortcut. I absolutely loved the ‘doubt’ as the episode is titled that we as the audience are left with- was he guilty? Maybe. I knew it was the girl when they kept panning back to her and then when they showed her cutting her hair I knew how it would end. I commented before, but I’ll comment again: Erin Strauss may be the ‘villain’ here, but actually? She’s not wrong. Hotch lets his team break protocol, didn’t report a drug addiction, a conflict of interest on a case, Gideon started season 1 just coming back from leave(if you remember everyone was wondering if he was gonna break on the first case), several members were attacked by an unsub(due to a hack caused by lax security protocol) and member of the team was investigated for shooting after returning to the job too soon- I’d question hotchs ability to lead the team too from the outside. Her job is to make sure the team functions well and that protocol is followed- I like that the team is shown as flawed and the conflict that Strauss brings in. The ambiguous ending is also interesting as a season opener- lots of storylines to build on! So glad you’re on season 3 because it just keeps getting better

I really enjoyed this episode for a couple of reasons. The unsub definitely was/is a "snack"! His name is Eddie Cibrian (aka Mr. LeAnn Rimes) and one of his best known roles was as Jesse Cardoza on CSI:Miami. He's a hunk! This is also the episode that shows what a badass Prentiss is and that she doesn't back down from anything! Telling the boss of her boss, "You have no authority over me!" takes some balls! And she has a brass pair. Love her! I also LOVE the scene where Hotch goes to her house and tells her that he thinks Strauss put her in the BAU to bring him down. But to her credit, she quit rather than whispering in her ear. Go Em! They also managed to humanize Strauss somewhat, which wasn't an easy task. I wanted to slap her when she told JJ to never question her again! But her reaction when stepped in the victim's hair felt very real and visceral. She also realized that the BAU needed Hotch (and Prentiss) and conceded that when she told him they'd never move up. No spoilers here- One of the things I love about his show is how some characters are instantly likable and others aren't. Some of them grow on you and others live up (or down) to their first impression. I think it's safe to say that anyone with eyes and ears can figure out that JJ and Garcia are the heart of the BAU. They're the "moms" for lack of a better word. Morgan had his origins episode and showed what a good guy he is. He's also smoking hot, so there's that. Reid's mix of naivety, genius and awkwardness make him lovable. But with Hotch, Prentiss and Rossi (who has been introduced by the time I'm writing this) are still hard to figure out. And will we see Erin Strauss again, will she be a problem or ??? Who knows.
