Kenneth Choi (Chim) carried this episode with his performance, he is so fuckin' good. Now the punch has been a huge deal in the fandom and I am quite frankly sick of it. Chim was spiraling and in the heat of the moment, he took it out on Buck. Was it the best thing? No, but the fandom is still hanging on to it and trashing Chim for it - some even go further and are extremely hateful and racist, which is just so nasty. Chim is human, and he isn't the only character who has lashed out like this, so why only hold it against him, hm? I will defend Chimney with my entire life. Other than that, the balcony scene. That scene owns my entire heart. Yes, I am such a biased Buddie gal, but oh well. Their relationship and that scene is such a nice soothing break from the crazy emotions you go through during this episode.

I mean, Eddie went to a full on illegal fight club to deal with his anger and he doesn’t get ANYWHERE NEAR as much hate as Chim gets for that one punch. (I love Eddie, don’t get me wrong!! Just one example due to the punching aspect of it all…)

I think what this season does really well is show you that the people we know and love can be more than one thing. They will do things we don't understand or approve of, but it doesn't mean that is all they are. You're right, this first half of the season is a lot different in tone. A lot more somber. Even the cast expressed how they felt it, especially with JLH and Kenny not being around, as well as some other things. The really poignant line from this episode is what Eddie says to Buck, "maybe you don't know her the way Chim does." I found that sentiment applies in multiple episodes this season, not just to Madney. The caregivers will be taken care of.
