I've been playing a bunch of Overwatch and I promised to make fanart of it. There was one random dialog exchange between Pharah and Soldier 76 that stuck in my head, and this is it in its entirety here. Now, in the game itself there is so little data and information about who the characters are that this conversation doesn't make much sense.

But it seems Blizzard is pretty okay with just letting people find out the story by looking online or checking wiki or even asking friends. It's an interesting decision, and so far it hasn't appreciably hurt their game. The game itself works fine, even bereft of story or robbed of context. But the characters are meant to be seen or read about elsewhere, and played with in the game like little action figures. The kids playing with them know the story from the cartoons or the comics or the little stories on the box. But once they're playing with them, it's more about your interaction with your friends and what the toys let you do.

Maybe that's what the marketing team meant by making giant toys in plastic toy boxes around the world.

I would totally buy Overwatch Action Figures... probably with some of your Patreon money to be honest.

And I would approve that purchase wholeheartedly, especially if it inspired some sweet overwatch sketches.
